Why cant I get sound or vibration when receiving new mail?

Is there a way to change the sound of email notification ?

Hi ,
Can I change the ring tones for incoming calls and SMS ,is there a way to change the sounds for others too for eg. email ,voicemail etc., ?

m18981. This isn't exactly the right thread to be asking that question, but no you can't change those sounds unless you jailbreak. The only thing you can really customise without jailbreaking is the incoming call sound. You can *change* the SMS sound without jailbreaking but you can't change it to one of your own tones. If you jailbreak you can change all of these sounds and even change the way the vibrations work.

BA005. Jailbreaking is very easy these days and with the latest tools I haven't heard of anyone ever completely killing their iPhone. Even if you "brick" it you can still restore and try again or just restore to the official firmware. The latest tools for jailbreaking (PwnageTool and QuickPwn) can be found here:

Thank you for reminding me about this! I had seen it a few weeks ago when trying to fix this oversight by Apple/SoftBank. I didn't install it then because the description in Cydia only talked about replacing the vibration plist file to make the duration longer. I had already done that myself so figured I didn't need the program. They should update that description to tell you the real beauty of this app which is to TRIGGER the sound/vibration when the SoftBank silent notification pops up. This is the best jailbreak app for me so far!
 
Fixed!

New SoftBank email is accompanied by an audio alert with the new 3.0 firmware! Oddly, it's the same sound as a new SMS. I guess that's ok though.
