When someone calls me on my iPhone there is no option to continue using your phone as you were or to unlock your phone and do other stuff on it........ WHY?.....

if you cant take a 10 sec break from your phone while someone is calling you and you don't want to answer, you got bigger problems to deal with.

10 seconds is not the problem but which 10 seconds makes all the difference. If you are reading an important email (which was the case), the call comes from the person who you clearly want to ignore, you just have to wait till the call gets killed. not fun.

They don't use the CDMA Network. Infact they use 4G LTE based delivery nodes. They have purposefully disabled that option and can only be enabled by the provider. Technically they are in the forefront but they have imposed a lot of rules.

Now if you ask them their customer service is oblivious of what needs to be done. They come up with ridiculous answers. "For example, how is it possible you can talk and browse at the same time naturally.? Sorry, not possible." Someday I should record these calls for everyone to listen but then again that is against the laws so wont do it. :)

It can’t be against the law because customer services record calls when a customer calls in.

Depends on jurisdiction. Some allow secret call recording, some only allow it if you announce that you're recording, some don't allow it at all. Check your local laws and regulations before recording a call, and don't take legal advice from someone on a forum who didn't even mention where they're from when the information they're conveying depends heavily on knowing that detail.

Creating a strawman doesn't really do much one way or another. Why should you be interrupted in the middle of something without the ability to get back to it as quickly as you want? Perhaps every notification should be like that and not allow you to do anything until you act on it or some time passes?

But thats not correct, you have the ability to decline and go back to what you were doing instantly.

While that is true, declining is not the same as just dismissing.

Sorry but... Unless it’s a life or death situation, 10 seconds can wait.

You can also get up to change the volume or channel on your TV each time too instead of just using a remote. That kind of strawman logic just doesn't hold up.

I was merely commenting on the 10 second thing. Pretty much anything can wait 10 seconds

It amazes me how many people on earth lack the ability to say no, especially on this issue.

You aren't answering the phone. Regardless of whether or not you have the fortitude to be honest and decline, you aren't answering the phone. You don't want to talk to them. So say as much. The will either get their undies in a bunch and stop calling you (in which case your problem is permanently solved) or they will understand and call you later (in which case your problem is solved).

If you can't bring yourself to hit the red button then how do you make it in this world? What do all of you do all day that doesn't require honesty and the tiniest hint of a backbone?

What's the issue with having an option to simply dismiss the call notification without taking action on it? That kind of thing can be done with all kinds of notifications and alerts, seems like something as advanced as a smartphone would be capable of providing it without any particular reasoning as to why someone might want to use it or not, as is the case with any other notification basically. (They even provide an option to enable or disable read receipts for messages, imagine that.)

This is somewhat a cultural thing. In the UK such behaviour will be considered rude and people go out of their ways to try and be as polite as possible.

Can someone explain to me why is callbar type application not native to apple? Why don't they just get it? at least it should be an option to make the incoming calls non-intrusive? every time I get a call I have to wait until the provider turns off the call. Hopefully the jailbreak is gonna be untethered and I can finally get on.

Would like to see pptp and callbar come back with jailbreak

Personally I find this annoying too. As luck would have it, someone usually tries to call when I'm ~5 seconds away from finishing something. So I then either need to answer the call (and lose my train of thought), or decline the call, finish what I was doing, then call back. I'd happily just let it ring for another 5 seconds if I had the option...

This has happened to me as well. Personally I feel like a small notification type bar at the top covering the status bar should be fine. It can’t be thicker than that because then app navigation might get hindered seeing a lot of it is either at the top left or right.

I really hope they fix this in iOS 13. It's very annoying to get a Facetime call when you are in the middle of watching Netflix via Chromecast and suddenly cannot pause the movie because you have to take the call first. There is also no damn reason why it takes the whole screen over on the iPad instead of appearing as a sidebar like when you are multitasking.

It's bad design, nothing else. I want to take the call, just not right this second. I don't want to hang up and call back. The UI should not make these decisions for me.

that is a real pia when using ipad and playing a game in a middle of a battle.

waiting a 30sec until the call is forwarded to the voicemail is just too long time to wait until you can use the device again.

i dont want to decline the call because then the caller knows i declined it and on the next time the caller askes why i declined it. there are times when i dont want to talk with some people just because i know it is not any important, and call will just last and last until i get rid off it finally after an hour talking nonsense... there should be a way to dismiss and able to continue using the device.

maybe we should ask apple to expand this feature for macs and atv, and homepod - until you answer the call or reject it you cant use them? or atleast specially for those people who think that this a not a problem.

Can’t you just always have your phone in do not disturb mode? You can change the hours in settings to turn off at a certain time or when you leave your house.

Being able to quickly dismiss an incoming call or not have it block what you might already be doing on the phone at the moment is fairly different that simply not wanting calls to come through essentially all of the time.
