I went 12.9 for the following reasons:
  • Split screen apps are still legible with my old eyes.
  • The keyboard is an appropriate size for touch typists.
  • I love comics but I hate smart panel mode. Huge screen makes each page trivial to read.

I went with the 12.9 because I felt IOS 11 might better help to maximize its potential as compared the the 10.5

Given my vision, I also felt the larger screen had a significant advantage.

For the most part, portability was not an issue. I rarely take my iPad from home. It was much heVuer than my Air 2 and after 10 days of use with the ASK, I felt the ASK added too much weight to mAke it a viable accessory for me at this time. I am using the IPP with the Smart Cover and leather sleeve now.

I felt there was not enough difference in screen size between my Air 2, and the 10.5 if I wanted a new iPad there needed to be a huge difference. I am not saying that Promotion and 4GB of RAM, were inconsequential, but if not for the huge difference in screen size, I might have stayed with my Air 2.
