Why did Apple even send out those e-mails for June 23rd delivery?

I think they just like messing with us.

I also wanted to add that I WAS fine waiting for June 24th BEFORE the e-mails were sent.

FedEx does redeliver up to three times I believe, so if you didn't go home on the 23rd they would bring it a day later. And if you wanted you could go to your local FedEx facility, they leave a note on the door telling you where your package will be.
So then why would you take off for a phone? And you are calling us fan boys? I make more than 200K and I still am not taking off to play with a piece of plastic made in china that 6 million people will have in a few months.
Mine arrives at 10am this morning and when I get home at 6 or 7 I'll activate.

My phone reached Atlanta at 3:30 A.M. and I live about 30 miles outside the city. It will probably come today. FedEX just isn't updating anymore for me. It will probably update around 8 ish tho
What's the big deal? Just go to work today and take off tomorrow. If FedEx comes today they will just leave a door tag saying they will be back tomorrow (when you will be off and home). Your complex problem is solved. This is SOP for delivery companies. Do you think that if your not there today they will toss it in a trash can?
FWIW...my status has changed within the past 30 mins. The phone is NOT near my location but the delivery date remains the same (today) and now my progress bar indicates in transit and says "on schedule." For delivery today.

mine got from newark to newburgh ny at least, which is my hub. I expect it to go out today but fedex track still says at newburgh. We'll see...
I DID read the e-mail.
The thing is, people are calling FedEx and they are saying June 24.
I think I trust the person who is actually currently in possession of the phone than the maker.

The e-mail said to check the morning of the 23rd to track it to my door.
It is the morning on the 23rd and it's still "Departed from FedEx location"
But, honestly, at this point, It's just whatever.
OP, what time did your phone leave the NJ facility? Mine was at like 3am or something. I live in CT and am fully confident that it will come today. NJ isn't that far. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised today. Just don't leave the house and miss it!

hope this helps ya out. I'm in minneapolis and just updated my FedEx tracking. Finally its said it had reached the sorting facility here instead of still being in Indianapolis. Its almost 7 here and it arrived at 4:30am, BUT just updated now. Frustrating I know but it will come just relax and watch some saved by the bell on TBS. FedEx is just taking its sweet ass time to update right now, which is understandable.
p.s. the sorting facility is 10 miles away from my house, still says I will get it the 24th. No, it will be today, for sure! Apple's email was correct.

P.s. OP, I'm in the same boat - trying to work my schedule around getting my phone. And I'm even in college and so ***** broke, it's not even funny! (Got the new phone as a present - thanks Mom!) I never take off work and have never gotten a phone at launch - so yeah, I'm excited! Don't let the man get you down! And by the man, I mean the grumpy jackasses on these boards.

What up fellow twin-city-an? Mine says it's still in Indianapolis and that it left there at 4:56am. My delivery date is scheduled for today. I guess we'll see if it gets here and out for delivery in time. Hmm... Anyone know if these mofos are shipping Ground or Air? My service type says "Standard Overnight" and was shipped yesterday at 6:58am CST. So I guess one would assume that it is coming today but if it's shipping Ground there is pretty much no way in hell.
