Mainly cos it's shiny...

3) The MB looks like a toy, the MBP looks more like a real laptop imho.

4) Design again :)

It looks 'Pro'.

I cant walk into a business meeting or client presentation with a white macbook LOL.

in all honesty that is something to consider. as ridiculous as it is, some of the less intelligent people in a meeting may equate "macbook" with "amateur" and look upon you across the table slightly less favorably.

its a similar reason that good territorial salespeople always drive nice cars. it is indicative of success and people like to be in the presence of success and do business with successful people.

LMAO, thats so true xD.

Anyways:

1) Design: Nothing compares to this piece of hardware, stylish, professional looking, well built, and modern.

and... it looks better.

Agree with shecky, this is a very valid point. Compared to the MB, the MBP has the look of a professional. This same marketing idea even spills over into most TV commercials and/or magazine ads where you see the MBP and not the MB.

It is the reason we chose the MBP over the MB for the sales team.

Because the chicks love it!

To pick up the ladies, d'uh.

Status Symbol.

Good lord, no wonder Mac users get such a bad rep.

I didn't pay for one. I would've gotten along just fine without a backlit keyboard (I think I prefer the MB anyway), the lack of a dedicated graphics card, and a smaller screen, but in the end my dad said that the MB's look like fisher-price toys and that he was buying me a computer, not a toy. Works for me! :)

About half those comments were clearly made in jest. And what's wrong with saying "it looks good"? I'm not ashamed to say that aesthetics played a significant role in my decision to go MBP.

1. Power (the works - CPU/video/memory capacity/interfaces; I'm a gamer)
2. Aesthetics
3. Screen Size
4. Matte Display

My main reason was the screen: bigger and most importantly, matte!

I also like the LED screen, and the new SR tech is nice!

hmmmm.... My reasons are just about the same as everyone else's

Didn't want something with integrated graphics!!!!! Been there, done that.

Looks a lot more professional (hence the "pro" moniker").

More RAM stock.

screen size was a definite factor.

Its a stylish piece of hardware. Does saying "my house is pretty" gives you bad reputation? or driving a Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Lambo, or any other cool car give you a bad reputation? or having a pretty boyfriend/girlfriend give you a bad reputation?

Idk, I use my MBP for intensive task, use it a lot, never leave it at home. Might as well use something I actually like.

Altogether had 4 macbooks 3 with isues and the 4th was perfect....However went to buy a new imac walked in and the imac did not impress me so bought the MBP, the first had a bit of yellow tint, took it back and the store had NO 15" 2.2 sooooooo they Gave me a 2.4.....and i am happy :)

bigger screen
like the look
ram can be upgraded to 8GBs eventually
graphics
not too much bigger than the macbook, other than screen

If I may divert for a moment, where did you hear this about the ram? The Santa Rosa would support 8GB, but according to Apple the current Macbook Pro's memory controller only supports 1GB and 2GB SO-DIMMs.

I don't recall the exact thread, but I saw it somewhere and am pretty sure that it will work once 4GB ram sticks come out. The only reason that apple said that they can't support 4GB ram sticks is because they are not available yet.
