This is obviously for those who chose Apple Music.

I’m curious what factors played into you choosing it over Spotify. Was it price, bundling with AppleOne, or song selection?

I’m on the fence here as my free trial will be over in a few days. I‘m leaning towards Apple Music but not 100% on board with that decision.

Basically simply because it's Apple like all the devices it's being used on. Once AppleOne came out it got even cheaper, but I already had it anyway because of the first reason, so that was just a nice add on.

Because... you know...

In other words, no particular reason. Did a free trial, subscribed annually and it keeps renewing as long as I don't actively cancel it for which I'm too lazy. ;)

Purely for its ecosystem integration and bundling with other subscription services. That said, I think Spotify's new music discovery and playlist generation features are somewhat better.

Mainly for the Apple One bundling & also the Lossless playback on some songs, a feature that Spotify doesn't have.
Also, Spotify doesn't have 2FA, that's another big reason for switching to Apple Music.

My Spotify account was hacked a few years ago. Their Customer Service was great and got my account back and it was my fault for not having MFA on but I had to set up family account all over again and the kids lost their playlists, etc.. I was honestly looking for a reason to switch anyways.

long time back I signed up for Spotify with my Facebook account (yeah yeah I know), but I was beginning my move from Facebook and sound out that you cannot simply just separate the two even with putting in a support ticket, so I would have had to cancel my Spotify prem account and pay for another pay for 2 months (unless timing it correctly with the billing cycle), and recreate my library I had. I was a college student at the time and recently bought something and got the free few months of apple music and the rest is history

Much much better music quality and much better library management where I can se only things that I actually added to my library. Apple Music is just a much better value for your money than anything else. But there are bugs, design issues and overall slowness of it.

I like the way it handles the library. I know its preference but I really like that i.e. you can add three songs from the album, so then in your library you will have the songs, the album and the artist. On Spotify, the artists won't show up unless you follow and you can only add whole albums. Also I have a smart list so when I like one song from my library, its added to it.
The design is okay on both but I like having a light mode, too.
Also its €5 with the student discount and it comes with Apple TV+.

Mostly the bundle with Apple One, and having all those services shared with the family makes for a cheap solution for everyone. The integration is nice too, although ultimately it just came down to what we perceived was the best value.

I use Apple Music Family (actually Apple One). I was on Spotify then I started because the 14.99 price tag was cheaper than Spotify at the time for family at the time. I was going to switch back because Spotify is better at picking Music I like, but I gave my mother who doesn’t live us access and Spotify started charging more if family members aren’t in the same household. So stayed with Apple Music and upgraded to One for Apple TV+ and Arcade for $5 more.

Agree. I used Spotify on Linux before I got my Mac, and Spotify is so much better when discovering new music. Apple Music is better sound quality and is integrated much with all my Apple devices. Plus, I got 6 months of Apple Music for free, so I decided to use it. I'll probably stay on Apple Music unless Spotify does something unique to change my mind.

Apple Music finds so much new music for me to listen to that I do not have time to keep up with it all. Don't know why that's not your experience.

Well, to give you a real example. There is no radio station for the Metal genre. This seems to be a rather significant omission. Spotify also gives you 6 playlists that are updated daily with music from the six top genres you listen to. So every day, you are exposed to music you might not have heard before but will likely find passable at the very least.

I like streaming services for music discover, but I have amassed a large (to me) music collection prior to  Music. Most of this was not available on any streaming services and Apple Music was either the first or had the best implementation of allowing my music to blend in with the  Music library. This is a double edged sword, but it's still the friendliest service to those who want to manage and build their own collection alongside a streaming library.

1. Better integration with my own personal library. I can have my own songs and songs I've added from Apple music in the same place. With spotify I would need two separate apps.

2. I find that Apple music has better music discovery for me and better algorithms.

3. I prefer the UI of Apple music

4. Apple music works better given that all my devices are Apple. For example whilst Spotify works on the homepod, Apple music works better.

5. I subscribe to Apple one and it works out cheaper to combine all the various Apple services I use into one package. I can also share everything with family members.

Hi,

I like AM because :
- Better integration in my Apple ecosystem
- Much better sound in Airpods than Spotify, and lossless
- Quality of playlists and radios

I don't like AM because :
- No easy continue playing from one hardware to another like Spotify do
- Stupid message saying I need a family license if I switch too quickly from one hardware to another
- Shareplay doesn't work if we are not in the same country

I like SP because :
- Continous playing between everything (web, console, phone...)
- Search engine and suggestions based on what I listen
- Duo subscription let me listen simultaneously with someone in another country

I don't like SP because :
- Lossless promise one day is a joke
- Classical music albums are not tagged
- Playlists are a jungle, no control, sometimes no related content with the title

So I have both, Apple Music when I listen alone, Spotify Duo when I listen with another person.

I had paid Spotify before it was cool. I never disliked Spotify, but I prefer the integration with Apple much more. That, and the C19 vaccine misinformation/disinformation by one of their illustrious Podcasters certainly did nothing ingratiate me to try them again.

Personally, I cannot stand the graphics used on Spotify as they are just rather unappealing in my opinion. This is something that Apple just seems to nail 99% of the time; without needing Jony Ive.

I much prefer a smooth & clean design aesthetic over clunky mismatched looks; such as icons, graphics, buttons, etc. I feel that with Apple Music I know what I’m looking at and what the next step will look like as well; meaning that everything just appears copacetic to me.

I have been using Apple electronics since the late 1990’s and I’ve been through the @Mac, @me and @icloud services. I have utilized pretty much everything except Arcade & Gaming in general because I simply don’t have any free time to mess around; very busy with business and medical stuff + being the only caregiver for a cancer patient… free time is not something that comes along much.

Primarily because of iTunes Match. I buy a lot of stuff from Bandcamp, and adding it to Music automatically syncs it everywhere else. I pretty much ditched Spotify the second they released the streaming service.

Yes, iTunes Match got me "invested" in my iCloud Library (even though I'd already been using iTunes for years).

My only complaint with AM is that you can't separate owned and non-owned Library items. So I "search and play" rather than adding to Library.

My son switched us from our AM family plan to a Spotify one - mainly for his music recommendations - but I've maintained my iTunes Match subscription.

I chose Apple Music over Spotify for its seamless integration with my Apple devices, curated playlists, and exclusive releases. However, both services have their own unique features. If you're looking to switch between the two or transfer your playlists, try using Musconvtool. It's a tool that can transfer your music library between different platforms, saving you time and effort.

I may be mistaken but Apple Music is easier to get to than Spotify if you have a HomePod. Apple's insane wall garden on steroids.
Yea I still can't figure out how to set a default with HP. So much easier with Google. Just go in the Home App and select it. I only ever have AM as a choice in the iOS Home App.
