I went to the :apple: store and saw that they are selling beats headphones there.
Now I am usually a regular :apple:fanboy, but these headphones are a huge rip-off!

I have not tested them but a few told me they thought they were over-bassed and nothing special. I am not in the market for a new set at the moment but it sounds like a test drive could be a waste of time.

The beats sound like 20$ headphones. You are paying 95% just for the name.
Unbelievable that there is people buying some of those for 300$. Teaches you what advertisement can do. ;)

I have never used sennheiser, but I can vouch for b&w. They are > 200,- though.

Very good headphones on a budget are skull candy. I have a pair of those for only 45€ and they produce very accurate sound. Excellent bang for the buck.

I would agree, but don't buy anything of theirs under $50-- I've had three pairs of 50-50s crap out on me before I learned my lesson. Shame on me!

When Apple bought Beats I was about to kill myself, because Apple said they bought Beats, because they love music.... Well why not buy the best headphone-making-company then?? Sennheiser-headphones has on of the most clear sounds I've ever heard, and Beats is just... bvaaadar....

I say its hightime for you to look for another religion, your god is false.

Because Beats are the inferior headphone just like the iPhone is the inferior phone. Apple doesn't care how good their products are they will sell no matter what all because of advertising. Smart people buy Sennheiser, smart people but android.

In a coffee shop.
Most people don't even know what Sennheiser is.

Well, I think some audiophiles - especially older audiophiles - would know exactly what Sennheiser is. Back in part of prehistory known as the 80s, staff who knew their stuff in audio stores swore by Sennheiser - at the time, they were exceptionally regarded by those who worked in that world.

Apple doesn't care about headphones. The fact that Beats crappy cans make a lot of $$$ is just a bonus.

Too true, unfortunately.

This year, maybe next year too, but ultimately it's a fashion brand, not a serious audio company, though I suppose Apple has become that too.

Eventualy, people will get sick of the Beats design, the logo, the boomy sound... Dumb buy in my book.

They have been bought precisely because they appeal to the demographic that Apple wishes to attract and market itself to.

Who even says Sennheiser is for sale? You can't just throw money at something and expect to own it. That aside, Sennheiser isn't a hot consumer brand like Beats. Apple couldn't actually give two ***** about headphones, just how they can sell them.

Fair point, and I doubt that Sennhesier is for sale. And Beats - a poor product though they are by contrast with other, far better (but less well known) products - have won the branding battle. Unfortunately.

Beats makes consumer products, and only consumer products. Sennheiser makes some consumer stuff, but the majority is pro recording and studio use.

And no, they weren't for sale.

Jessica hits the nail on the head.
beats is just a very expensive consumer brand.

In the recording industry noone in their right mind would use those headphones.
Want the best of the best get b&w ;)

Agreed.

B&W are excellent headphones, and are a beautifully made, solidly constructed, superb sounding product.

I, too, can vouch for B&W headphones; they are the ones I have been using for the past few years and I find them outstanding, comfortable, attractive in appearance, beautifully built, and delivering an excellent quality audio experience.
