iphone 15 pro max, ios18.2: there are no alarms in clock app, so why do i get a wake up alarm at 6am. Repeat there are zero alarms in clock app. I deleted them all. Where or how did i turn this every morning buzzing at 6am. The alarm lasts 5 minutes, exactly at 6am. What is this?

The 5 minutes piece of information suggests an alarm from the clock app. Is bedtime mode set?

Could it be an app? I don't have any particular app in mind, just a thought.

What is bedtime mode? What app for instance?
It's not called Bedtime anymore (there was a Bedtime icon in the clock app) but the same functionality is in the Health app on the iPhone. I use it for my weekday alarm but the alarm set there also shows up in the Clock app.

Siri says i dont have an alarm. I dont have a Health app? The clock app is empty, zero alarms.

And this was really a wake alarm by the clock app?

If not I would look through your Notification list in Settings, to see what apps all are allowed to play a notification sound. Maybe it's some other alarm from a weather app, a calendar/reminder notification set long ago or whatever.

@blackxacto My error. I was referring to the Sleep schedule feature in the Health app, as @CharlesShaw posted. But you would see it in the Alarm settings in the Clock app, and you say that as empty.

As far as other apps, as I say, I don't have any particular apps in mind. It's a thought. Something to consider, and review your installed third-party apps.

Another thought: When the alarm is sounding, do you not see something on the phone display indicating what is giving the alarm, any kind of notification or alert? On my current device (16 Pro, iOS 18.2), for instance, the Clock alarm displays a vibrating clock icon, the name of the alarm, and the time of the alarm at the top of the display. If you see something similar, it should point you to what is doing the alarm. If you don't see anything, that is indeed a mystery.

I see nothing as the phantom goes off at 6 am. There is nothing in ios18.2 to identify processes like there is in mac OS. Please dont tell me i have to wipe and install my iphone new.

While I hope you get it resolved without too much hassle, your issue has certainly been an opportunity to consider what steps I'd have to perform if I encountered some unexpected scenario that required me to set up my iPhone as new without using a backup.

Definitely go to Settings > Notifications and check all the per-app settings there, plus Scheduled Summary, though that should not be an alarm per se.

Also check Settings > Calendar and see if you have a continuing alert set up. In Calendar settings also check "Default Alert Times" to see if that might be 6 a.m.

You said you don't have a Health app, but it's part of the OS and you should have it. So look for it - the icon is white with a small red heart in it. You may have a reminder set up there, such as for a medication. Good luck!

You can delete the Health app as long as you don't have an Apple Watch paired to the iPhone.

To OP: If you have deleted the Health app and you'd like to check the sleep schedule settings as others have mentioned here, you can redownload it from the App Store.

I have 0 reminders.
Calendar has 0 alarms set, 0 extra calenders or alarms checked.
I deleted ALL Health Data first, then twice. Then deleted Health. App. There is no Health when I search. It is deleted.
I have shut off all notifications to test Wednesday at 6am.
I called Apple Tech. He agreed with all above, manually. He said try no notifications. I said i just did turm it all off.

Repeating the buzzing begins at 6am and ends 2 mins later. Will post Wed. Morning results.

I'm now curious about the sound or tone of the "buzzing". Is it one of the available clock alarm tones, or, that is, something that can be set? Is it the phone vibrating?

At any rate, if it were me, it's time to reload the OS clean, and wait 24-48 before restoring from backup.

6:03 am report: w notifications ALL OFF, i get an alarm at 6am this moring for 3 minutes. The alarm is 4 beeps and off repeated for 3 minutes this morning. Someone tell me w Notifications off why an alarm at 6am.

Why wait 24-48 hours to restore iOS 18.2?
Reload the OS

do not restore backup (at first)

since the "bussing" is occurring at the same time every 24 hours, wait a day or two to see if the "buzzing" occurs again -- if it does, with no user data or settings changed, issue must be something with the device

restore backup -- if buzzing didn't occur with clean device, but occurs after restore, then issue is something in the user data or settings

Can an iPhone be set to a different time zone, or otherwise to the wrong time? That could be a useful diagnostic tool. Make it think it is almost 6am and see if it rings.

That makes sense. Thanks, i will try it.

I’m not sure. I can try before the OS RESTORE.

You can even change the time and date manually, when you turn off setting the time zone automatically.

And when there is something on the screen while the alarm, it would be good to post a screenshot.

This description does not match the (wake) alarm (for example, set in Clocks app) — I can’t recall if alarms set in Calendar and don’t know if Sleep alarms use the same system though I assume.

Foremost, the iOS alarm is 15 minutes:
OSXDaily said:

Why does the iPhone alarm clock stop and turn itself off?

The iPhone alarm clock is designed to sound for 15 minutes, after which it mutes itself automatically.

This is by design, intended to prevent the alarm from going off endlessly, in the even that the iPhone owner is unable to attend to the alarm within that time frame.

That iPhone will turn off its alarm clock sound automatically after 15 minutes can be beneficial for some users, but it can also be detrimental to iPhone users who tend to oversleep, or who like to sleep in, because after 15 minutes the alarm will simply turn itself off.

iPhone alarm turning itself off is a feature that can not be disabled (presently, anyway), the only way around this behavior is to set another alarm, for 15 minutes later. Setting a secondary alarm to get around this feature may be desirable for some users, especially if they rely on a silent vibrating alarm on iPhone since that type of alarm is more subtle than ones that play sounds.
Put simply, I’m aware of this because I’ve fallen asleep where my iPhone is unreachable, so I can’t snooze or turn the alarm off myself but also don’t drift back to sleep while it’s active.

Next, when the alarm goes off, does the UI look similar to this?

iOS-18_wake-alarm.jpg

I’m thinking your situation is due to a third-party app, perhaps one you’ve forgotten about.
