Why do PC users hate Apple?

I'am an all time PC User I used to hate Apples because they where missing intel chips, and had very few software and game choices than PC. In 2008 I bought an iphone after using a windows mobile with a stylus thingi I noticed the difference immediately after 2 years of flawless operation and updates I decided to buy my first Imac. Now I'am an all time apple user but not to sound biased I still don't like the Ipad because i have an iphone and a HP laptop still with vista
, i don't see the need to add a device that identical to the iphone to my list but maybe oneday i might add a macbook to my list.Not sure why this is a topic of discussion...but...

Why do you use your mac? For style? Or for it's creative content? It seems it's ongoing consumer use has blurred the lines between what people use it for, and what it's original value was (possibly still is?)

Right when I want to buy a Mac this year apple does a complete reverse. 2 years ago the hardware was faster than almost every pc. Today apple is way behind in terms of hardware and the price is way too high.

These statements are all generalizations, but the end result is the same; "haters gonna hate."

It might have something to do with how there's a good chunk of outspoken people with Apple computers who like to brag/talk about them. The general consensus is they all like the macs because they're different and original-- yet the irony of it is, Apple relegates you to buying preset computers with very few upgrade opportunities, while a person who wants to use Windows operating system can custom build their own rig with any part they choose. The latter is way more original and different and personal than the former. There is also no denying the capability per cost when doing that either.
That's about the only good thing a pro-windows os user could tell you though (albeit a very huge reason) Apple trades the ability for mass customization for quality control. They choose to control their own os and build their own computers with their own select internals to assure the computer works as stable as possible.
So there's no winning the point on originality and performance, a custom built rig has that hands down. Delivering a great user experience? When it comes down stability, build quality and the community, Apple far surpasses what any other computer OEM or custom built rig could offer.
One last thing, yeah a bunch of major geeks who custom build their rigs tend to be major douches, yes.

Good comment. People should just buy and use that which suits their needs. No need to disparage one another. At the end of the day it is just a computer!!!
I don't think they hate Macs. I think they hate how Mac users think Macs are superior and the ultimate best.
It annoys me to no end when people are d-bags about having a mac and think they are superior because of that. I'm no better than anyone who has a PC, and I use windows myself, because it is better for some tasks that I do. The user experience is really what got me. I didn't like macs at all until I used a friends iBook G4 (although his particular spacebar sucked, but minor issue aside), then after that I used a combo of G4s and first gen Mac Pros for some video/Ps stuff that I did, and that's when it really clicked. It just works, and I think until you actually use it, you just don't get it.

Most people don't have any experience with Macs.

Habit. I think it's becoming a bit silly that people are still harping on about suckers spending a few extra hundred dollars on something they use every day for years when it is completely acceptable to spend thousands of dollars extra on a car just for a brand name.
So your five-month, problem-free experience with a Mac is being set against using Windows for "all your life?" Quite a difference in samples there.
You don't want them to hate you (erm... Apple)? Shut up and mind your own business. You don't need to brag about it. If someone else brings it up, then whatever, but why should their computing preferences matter to you otherwise? Just use your computer and be happy with it; let your friends do the same.

Whenever I mention that I use Apple products, I get much more hate than warranted. I don't brag, I don't even really talk about it to anyone, but I get way more attention than I should. I just laugh. Who has all that energy to talk trash about things they don't like? I think we should just use what we like to use, and have a healthy debate each way.
Some reasons may be because either
A) They can't afford an
themselves (Not always, some of them would be like this though)
B) They're sick of Apple's products taking No. 1 spot in whatever field they're in (iPod, iPad, iPhone (Umm, Not sure about iPhone, I think Nokia or Blackberry are slightly bigger?))
C) They think we live in 1995 where we had only one-click mouses or think that we have no games when most new games come out for Mac one point or another.
D) They're arrogant @$$-holes who forget that everyone is entitled to their preference of computers and refuse to accept that the opposing product can be good in certain aspects, even if it is better.
I like (and use) both OS's. They each have advantages and disadvantages.

Pro:
Gaming is a BIG plus
Con:
Viruses and can crash more often than a Mac (in my experience anyway)
Apple
Pro:
AMAZING for design, video-editing, photo-editing etc (A field I want to get a job in)
Con:
Not as much gaming (I use my Xbox 360 for gaming so I don't really care )

One day you have a great application (as a user/developer), the next day it will not run anymore.
How can you collect IPhone GPS coordinates, without a simple opt-out option. Of course Apple can promise that *they* will not misuse the information themselves. At the same time I can guarantee that partners *will* misuse it.
Is there any controversy about such subjects within Apple?

There's no vendor lock-in issues with the desktop scene. It's only an issue with the iOS brand.
Develop to your hearts content on Mac OS X.

To maximize profit, these companies have a habbit of trying to lock you into their business model by offering a platform/ecosystem with nice features.
At the same time they determine the rules of the game. That's what I have seen in the 6 months that i followed MacRumors. In those 6 months Apple one-sided changed the (developer-)terms of use for Apple products/platforms a number of times.
In the extreme case you have a great application (as a user/developer), the next day it will not run anymore.
Another example of their power is how they start collecting IPhone GPS coordinates, without a simple opt-out option. You already bought the product, now they are changing the terms. Not accepting the terms, disables itunes store etc. It sounds like a joke, but this is for real.
And still they will explain they are "helping" you. Their only goal is to help themselves.
For this reason alone I would *never* consider buying an IPhone.
At the same time I really like the MBP and I may even buy one within months.

Long lived PC user here....Just switched to mac about a month ago ( iPhone, iMac and MBP but still own my i7 windows machine ) and i think i can clear up the hate for Apple and Macs ( i use to hate them also )
A few things....
1) back then ( and still a little today but not as bad ), Macs OS looked very plain and boring...There OS really isnt that "colorful" so to speak, So it gives a more professional look which does turn off some people. The lack of being able to fully customize the look of the OS out of the box, turns some people off. Mac seems to love this "Powder Blue" theme color....While in windows you could have any theme color imaginable, Once again all about customizing....This type of thing normally bothers the younger crowd as they love to customize ( think of if like customizing your car )
2) This sort of relates to 1) in a way....Lack of customizing the actual hardware itself ( case fans, lights, accessories, etc, etc ) onces again Mac goes for the sleek professional look ( which i LOVE today ) but once again, Some people love to have 5 different case fans with 10 different lights...
3) Game support, Which still stands true to this day, Macs are not the number one choice when gaming....
4) ( thought you may not care to hear it ) Lack of Warez for Mac. Yes there are Warez out there for Macs, there a bit hard to find....So the younger people who prefer FREEBIES much rather stick to a PC because you could find anything and everything in a heartbeat...
5) Price tag! EVERYTHING and i mean EVERYTHING that has a Apple logo on it, Is EXPENSIVE! So some people simply cannot afford a Mac or are simply jealous of the fact that YOU own a Mac and they cannot afford one, Which is why they talk trash about Macs ( jealousy! )
6) Price and Specs vs a PC? Yeah you can get WAY more on a PC...If your spending 2-3,000.00 on a iMac or MacPro, Look at the specs as opposed to a PC if you spent 2,3000......You could get something a lot more powerful and with more features when compared to a Mac for the price.
7) Software...Everything that is on PC is on Mac, Though its much harder to find is the problem..Thats another good reason why people dont go Mac or talk trash. PC software is EVERYWHERE! ( hell i go to my local hardware store and they have a bin of 9.99 PC software! ) lol but Mac software is just hard to find....Its there but you just have to look. So people get the impression that "you cant do this on a Mac"
Macs are awesome, bottom line..Apple locks down there products for a reason....So they WORK WELL! and STAY WORKING WELL! Yeah, if you dig deep enough you can change themes, colors, etc, etc..but Apple has locked down certain features for a reason..Unlike with Windows after about 6 months of installing 20+ apps your system will have errors, slow down, etc, etc...
As for gaming support, I PERSONALLY think Apple has been a more professional system in the past years....catering more to professionals and therefore never looking into the gaming industry but now with the iPhone, iPad, etc, etc they are attracting a more younger crowd and are starting to look more into things like gaming and such....also there design changes ( all aluminum ) is really attracting the crowd to.
The high price tag i think pays off for the build quality and support you get...Ever compare the build quality of a Dell or HP laptop to a Macbook Pro? Yeah....I thought so...Ever call HP or DELL tech support? lol
Plus, Dont lie.....The Apple that lights up on your MBP is just flat out awesome!!! lol
