Did you ever wonder why some PC users hate Apple products so much?

...

I can't stop bragging about it every time my friends bring up the subject of computers.

bingo.

you'll find most pc users don't care. they prefer windows and we prefer mac os. each have their strengths, but the most annoying and frustrating thing about apple is their fanboys. it's not that their are more of them than there are pc fanboys, it's just that they're far more annoying.

HAHAHA +1!

I didnt want to say it but yeah, Apple fan boys are just REALLY annoying.....

Even when i walk into the Apple store i just want to start smacking people, lol....

Most people don't have any experience with Macs.

Just like some people still believe airplanes are witchcraft.

You might be one reason why some Windows users dislike the Mac crowd.

You can say many things about OS X but innovative as airplanes, compared to the 'medieval' Windows, it's not.

I think part of it when you first use OSX if you have always used a windows based machine its disorientating, my mother in law spends her whole time heading into the hot corners, which is set up for my preference so she gets incredibly frustrated and hates it as she can navigate her way round windows (and vista at that) really easy. In comparison to my father in law who is the biggest techno phobe and despite computer lesson wont even switch on the pc, loves our mac and finds it so easy and will happily surf the net on our iphones or iMac switch it on and off.

The second reason why I can understand prejudice is the fact that my uni course is run on a disk that isn't compatible with OSX so Ihave to run VMware fusion and win7, which if you didn't love OSX already seems entirely pointless.

I have the prettiest windows machine:p

I think there are several reasons, but one really is that a lot of PC users get this sore-loser attitude and hate on what they don't know or much less get, yet suspect may be better. It eases their cognitive dissonance, if you will.

I'd like to just put myself into the conversation as someone who has owned an iMac 21.5 inch but I sold it to build a PC.

I hate apple, not it's products, but the company itself, just the way they do things. They abuse their fan base to the point that if you own a mac you are automatically classified an "elitist ******." I don't hate Macs, iPhones(Well, I hate the 4G, but that's only because of it's problems.) iPods(Heck, I carry my iPod with my all the time.) or even iPads.(Though I think they're a waste of money, I think they are really cool)

What I hate are fanboys. Ones that go around preaching how good a mac is. It doesn't just work, it does get viruses, they do come broken at times, and they aren't nearly as customizable as they should be. If they would stop trying to put me down for owning a PC then I wouldn't hate apple at all. Really, it's their fault the fanbase is so bad.

Also I hate them for the Mac VS PC commercials, why do you have to put us down for owning a PC? What if we want to play video games? What if we need certain programs?

Macs are great but over priced, I have no problem if you own a mac, but I do have a problem if you're a douche about it.

PC fans think specs are the be-all and end-all.

Of course specs are important, but Mac folks recognize the effort Apple puts into their hardware and software design. The most minute design details are so well thought out. Nothing feels cheap, you feel like you're getting your moneys worth. There isn't a one-to-one relationship between specs and user experience. In my experience, Macs tend to have a longer lifetime than PCs. I'm typing this on my 1st-gen G4 Mac mini.

Just my 2¢

At work I still use a pc from 2005 or so with a p4 Prescott CPU. With a ram upgrade it runs windows 7 just fine and faster than the g4 Mac mini I have at home that cost the same amount of money and is a newer machine

PC users hate Apple because they know it's different but also better than Windows. I don't want to deal with low level crap like viruses and crashing. PC users love that. I want to get work done. PC users love playing games. I want to have a good quality computer. PC users just care about the specs. I want a nice LCD display that is color accurate. PC users just want bigger. I need a laptop that can last more than 2 hours on battery power. PC users just want a faster CPU. Lastly, I hate garbage. PC users love it.

Habit. I think it's becoming a bit silly that people are still harping on about suckers spending a few extra hundred dollars on something they use every day for years when it is completely acceptable to spend thousands of dollars extra on a car just for a brand name.

are you my twin? I've thought that way since day one.

Now to my story. A few years ago I hated macs, I didn't know why but I just did even though I had never tried one. I even remember making fun of one of my friends for having an iMac. I had originally gotten a mac in 2007 ish (a mac mini that my dad got for free from his work) but I had also just bought a PC laptop with Vista! (I thought this was so cool and it was only $450!) So I decided being able to lay on the couch and surf the web was more pleasing. My brother though used his iMac and fell in love and started lusting after a Macbook Pro. I thought he was crazy! Me here with my $450 laptop that was fast (at least I thought so) vs this $2000 laptop. Well he bought it and after five minutes of use I was like "holy $#!+ this is fast" and I decided I wanted a black macbook. Well being in high school money doesn't accumulate too fast but I was finally to get an iMac in march of 09(got into video editing and needed the power). At first I was kinda braggy saying macs are better blah blah blah and my friends started getting apple products mainly ipods and now they are being sucked into the black hole that is named Apple. Now I just see it as a computer, I love it, haven't had any problems in 2ish years of use, but I'm not as much of an evangelist as I used to be. I don't really care about the mac vs PC debate anymore. I love my mac you love (at least you think you love) your PC, get over it its just a computer. I even went through that youtube phase which is pretty much over by now. I really think PC people hate the way Mac people think they are better more than they hate apple and their platforms. And there are also some people who secretly love apple but just can't afford it.

Possibly because they're irritated by the smug-ness of some Mac users, and thus, have a bad impression of the Mac?

I know I am  (irritated at times, not smug, heh)

Being both a longtime Mac and PC user, it's not only that but the famous mythology some Mac users have around Apple.

There is so much made up "alternate history" as to explain away anything that happened with Apple that was less than flattering. Whether it's Apple's financial woes at different times in the past, being outfoxed by Bill Gates, or a dud of a product, getting stuck with G4 too long, there are always some Apple faithful to come up with creative cover up and conspiracy stories. This gets very old and makes Mac users appear to be in some kind of computer cult.

The good thing is for the most part, Apple has usually come out with good, innovative products and that should stand by itself.

Are you serious !

Or just showing us all the worst points a typical Mac owner could possible have?

YOU

YOU ARE THE VERY TYPE OF PERSON I HATE.

MACS DO GET VIRUSES AND WHEN I HAD AN IMAC IT CRASHED TWICE IN ONE DAY WHILE I WAS TRYING TO GET SOMETHING TO "JUST WORK" AS YOU IDIOTS SAY.

I BOUGHT AN LCD DISPLAY THAT IS 23INCHES LED BACKLIGHT AND IT WAS ONLY AROUND 300$. YOU WANT AN APPLE CINEMA DISPLAY? GOTTA PAY 800$ FOR THE SAME THING ONLY WITH A BUILT IN WEBCAM AND SPEAKERS, AND IF THE SPEAKERS OR WEBCAM BREAKS? YOU GOTTA SEND YOUR WHOLE THING BACK TO APPLE, IF MY SPEAKERS BREAK, I JUST SEND BACK THE SPEAKERS AND USE SPARES I HAVE LAYING AROUND.

I can't argue the battery power thing, that's one thing that's great about macbooks.

Your last remark is just ****ing ridiculous though. I paid 1100 for a computer that ran circles around my 21.5 inch iMac that I had refunded due to the fact the so called "Color correct screen" Had two dead pixels on it on arrival, then the second one had a stuck pixel on arrival.

So shut your whore mouth.

Also the computer I'm building is beautiful on the outside and the inside.

I take it back—Apple-haters don't have issues at all.

Maybe the answer to the question of the thread lies in your post. But not in the way you thought. :p

Yeah I probably shouldn't have flipped.

But his post made me rage like the fist of the north star, I couldn't control my rage.

I agree that saying people who use PCs "love garbage" and insinuating that people who use Macs are "better" is uncalled for.

There are some class acts beginning to appear on these forums.

macs dont get viruses.

Yes they do.

There are less viruses out there but if you browse enough websites with all scripts enabled, you'll get a virus. Also Macs are getting more viruses by the day.

Also I have used a PC since I learned how to use a computer and I can say I have not ever gotten a virus.
