MKBHD explained his preference in a recent video: He does not like the color in the reflection when he does car reviews.

I don't like it where you can see the iphone colour around the screen. Black is the only option where the phone seamlessly blends with the screen.

This is an easy question for me to answer I personally like the black color in phones, that is all that matters to me a black phone with a nice black case.

I’m almost always a white/silver iPhone guy. This year I went Cosmic Orange.

I’ve known plenty of guys who likely got black just because if they chose a color like blue or green they would likely get teased by their friends. I don’t understand it, but I think that sentiment exists.

Some just like black, I’m sure, just like I like orange and silver.

Hi

Why do people like the color black on an iPhone ? isn't the color black on iPhone more prone to overheating in the summer months especially if you live in the desert south west like extreme southern California Arizona border nv and Phoenix area ? then other color iPhone
Riddle me this: Are iPhones - including black ones - actually marketed to anyone who lives in any other place, anywhere, or in any other country, than are found in the desert conditions of some southern US states?

Me, I'm in the British Isles, where it is pouring rain at the moment.

Anyway, I like the colour black. In each, every, and all of its manifestations.

I wanted black on my 17PM. Decided on silver as I did not want orange or dark blue. I have never even considered a colored device. I always slip a thin case on my phone to prevent scratches and give it some grip.

Choices are always good so Apple is always offering colors for those who prefer.

I used to choose black everything! Black phone, watch straps, hoodies, cars - everything then I married an artist!

She is a colourful person and now so am I - sometimes, I still get the appeal of black but it seems everyone does so now I often try more colourful options. Currently have a Blue iPhone and red strap on my Apple Watch!

Because once you go black, you can't go back. Oh wait, that’s related to something else… carry on.

Black phones can look good if they are a very dark color and not space grey. The iphone 7 in Jet Black was amazing. I didn't like the "grey" that my black 15 plus was though. I personally have found that I get bored of a black phone faster than any other color. I think that is because when smart phones came out and my first few smartphones the only choice was black. I like colors that are warm looking.

I see this too. The same guys refuse to drive anything other than a pick up truck (or maybe a larger SUV). It doesn't matter what their needs are or what they use it for, they must own a truck. Subscribing to societal masculine norms for no reason other than how random people view you is very strange.

Because all the other colors have been sight-unseen at upgrade time so Black is the only known color. Also, these days Apple is getting too funky with other colors. That Orange, yuk.

The black iPhone Air is disgusting. Not even because of the shiny frame or the fingerprint-prone camera bump. It's because the gaps between the frame and the glass are big enough to let small lint in. Nothing spoils a lovely black device by seeing a dotted line of small lint and dust particles stuck in the frame. Ends up looking super terrible.

Don’t like black cars or black tech, for me Apple products should be silver or white. Black just destroys the detail of the design on a product or vehicle.

It’s also a nightmare to keep clean.

The same question could be asked about why anyone chooses any color. For me I think black is sick af. Honorable mention to orange. I went with the black Air over the orange Pro because I don’t even lift bro.

Seriously, it really doesn’t matter if you put a case on it, which you can pick almost any color.
That definition of black is quite something.
Evolutionarily speaking, I think Homo sapiens might disagree with „protection“, „elegance“, „secures“ or „seduction“. And any real professional would mention at least once it’s not a color at all.

I don't understand why anyone has to explain why they like what they like. It's all preference. There are things you like that others don't like. It's just our nature. I could write an essay to explain why I like the color black BUT if that color is not your preference then it won't matter to you.

With all that said, I like black because, to me, it's a neutral color. It is not flashy. It blends in pretty much everywhere.
What?
No body has to explain themselves, or were you forced to post a comment in this thread?
You’re last two sentences would have been enough, no one asked for more, and probably not even OP would read that assay.

Black is a neutral color that matches with everything. Every associated appliance or piece of electronics that you have. It looks very professional. Plus with the bezels being black it makes the phone look like a single slab of glass. I do get white iPhones sometimes though as that color looks so clean and elegant. Haven't bought a non black or white iPhone since I had the gold 6s Plus.

I started out with the white iPhone 3GS. Always loved white back phones, I never put it in a case just one of those wrap-shields since it was a plastic back. Went to gold or rose gold which were fine choices with white fronts.

Then I got an iPhone 8 Plus in black, and couldn't wait to get rid of it. Titanium or White were great. Now we have to settle for silver pro again

On 16Pro, in my opinion, black is just perfect:
It makes the screen bezels blend in with the side rails - Gives the illusion of the phone being thinner than it actually is -Gives more immersive experience and makes the phone feel more modern or more timeless.
