Everybody has a plan til they get punched in the face - Tyson (although I'm not sure he's the original)

The same people who bash us for spending $500+ on an iPad will run out and spend the same amount on the newest GPU so they can get an extra 2 fps in Crysis.

It's saddening, but I totally know someone who would do that.

Just goes to show, we have no idea what goes on in these people's heads.

I work with IT professionals, approximately 150 to 200 on a daily basis, all using PC's. I was the first in my area to have an iPhone (2g). Since then, 15 plus people have bought them and many others that I didn't have an influence on. Two of them were anti-Apple and now love their iPhones. At least 4 people have bought new iMacs, 3 iPod touches and 2 MBPs for home use. I find it rather humorous that if I can convince them to go to one of the 2 Apple stores nearby and play with them, they usually end up buying the product.:) Apple products really sell themselves if you keep an open mind. I'm not anti-Microsoft since I've been using MS operating systems including and since the MS-DOS days, Windows 3.1 for workgroups through VISTA. Been using MS office since 4.1 (pre-office95). I started using Apple products at home almost 3 1/2 years ago and I love them. I can't wait to get the iPad next week. Since I had nothing to do today I've spent the past 15 plus hours with my 17" MBP in my lap on a lap desk. The iPad would have been much nicer:).

I hear ya. My philosophy on tech is use what makes you happy. I'm pretty sure Apple would make a lot of people happy if they gave it a fair shake.

Once at work, a bunch of those anti-Apple idiots were trying to get a Dell (heh heh) laptop to interface with a projector for a presentation.

After 15 minutes after watching them struggle, I took out my USB drive. Had them copy over the PowerPoint over and then stepped in as I substituted the Dell for my Macbook. Everything went off without a hitch.

I had a smug smile whenever I looked at them and I know they were pissed as they watched that glowing Apple icon deliver their presentation effortlessly. :)

I find that if you can't help but respond to these types of trolls, it is best to stick to aloof, Jobs-like replies such as "it's convenient", "it saves me time", "it makes me happy", "don't worry I won't make you buy one" or "i like this better". Then quit responding entirely until it's mandatory or never at all.

Personally I had one reason to buy an iPad. I didn't need more. It is simply the very best tool for reading PDF comfortably on the couch in my dimly lit living room. Period. Its price is worth it to dramatically enhance my comfort level while I work. Now there are at least 10 other things I am going to use it for regularly but I don't think I need more than one reason. I have found giving one reason to be the most effective way to shut up the skeptics.

Ive run into the same thing. I have a brother claim that anyone who buys an Apple product is moron.

Since I own an imac, a MBP, and a macmini, (not to mention an iphone and ipod) I guess that makes me an idiot many times over.

People usually make the argument that they are overpriced for what you get, and while they do have a point on Apple products being overpriced, you do get what you pay for eventually. All I have to do is compare my two year old imac to a three year old dell in my possession to realize that.

I have found that for the most part it is people who are either narrow minded, too cheap, or too poor from wasting their money on other stupid things.

These are people who will be obsolete in the new order.

I have many friends who say the same thing every time they see an Apple product. I used to argue with them but now I've just learnt to let them be. They're just too arrogant to be convinced.

It's because of people like you that Steve Jobs is killing the MBP line! No one else is to blame but the sheep like you who are buying the iPad. This only encourages Steve Jobs in his folly and hurts everyone else who want a real, decent laptop.

Another one, what does me buying an iPad have to do with your MBP. Why should it matter to you what I buy? Get of your high horse dude.

Dell use to be a great company. For the 5 years or so, they have really lost focus and have made some dumb dumb moves. Can't really suggest anyone buy one now. For people who are looking for a computer, and don't want a Mac, I pretty much tell them to get the cheapest that will work and toss it in a year.

They are waiting for a minor performance boost! That slight increase could mean then end of the world!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't mind with those guys, they're just envying you for having something that they can't have.

At this time, I don't like anyone of the iPad users. (kidding) Simply because I WANT ONE SO MUCH and there's no release date for my country. Shame.:(
