Why does Android still not have visual voicemail?

It's the area the iPhone wins hands down. Why didn't Android have a version? I'm sure there's apps, but why isn't it in the OS?

I get maybe one voicemail a month, if this is iphones "droid killer" app, then I think I'm gonna be OK with not having it..

That is probably 5 more per week, let alone day, than many people get these days.

seriously do people even call people on cells anymore.

can't remember the last time I got a legit voicemail.if anything people call and then just text what they needed to say vs leaving a voicemail

If your carrier doesn't support it, you won't have it. In the USA it is pretty standard, but here in Europe we simply don't get it. I am with Vodafone here in Germany and we don't have it either.

Thought so as well, I'm on Vodafone callya, you can activate VV by calling the actual voice mail and dial yourself through their menu.

I had my carrier disable my VM over a year ago. I got tired of my phone not ringing but spammers getting through straight to VM and leaving messages.

Clearly, if you only get one voicemail a month, it's not important to you.
