All I know about Face ID is that it helps you Unlock your Device since TouchID was removed. Keep in mind that FaceID is much less secure than TouchID it’s already been defeated by a mask and some pictures and can be fooled by taking pictures or a quick 3D Scan of the targets face.

All that aside

IPads also don’t send Text Messages even LTE ones. And Animojis are great but useless on iPad.

The only reason to have Face ID on the iPad is the Home Touch ID button being removed. Why not Shrink the Home Button to a Rectangle or Oval still slim the Bezels but keeping the Superior Touch ID.

Here is an example skip to. 3:25.
It’s you again, you consistently post trolling posts with misinformation. It’s almost like you have never used an Apple device or lived in the Apple ecosystem.

Also, take a quick 3D scan of the subjects face? Are you living in fantasy land? It’s not a mission impossible movie, if you had the time and the victim to do that you would just have them look at their phone to unlock it.

Your posts are fantastically trolling in nature, I often wonder if you are being paid to post these FUD posts.

I believe that Face ID will eventually be used for more than just authenticating your device. It's a full-blown Kinect sensor, and may one day allow you to control your iPad with gestures, amongst other uses. Think long term. Think big picture.
Controlling **** with gestures is tiring. Remember how successful Kinect was because of that fact alone?

Microsoft is a very bad example to use, simply because they tend to suck at execution. So claiming that something can’t succeed simply because Microsoft tried and failed isn’t very convincing.

Lol. If they had the Face ID tech back when the iPad was introduced it would have had it back then instead of a dopey button.

Samsung also tried gestures on their phones. Moving your limbs all over the place isn’t a great way to interact from a human interface perspective

That may be so. However, my theory is that the primary mode of control for the apple glasses will be gestures (and Siri) and what better way to beta-test this feature than by rolling them out on devices already sporting Face ID?

I hope I can always opt. Out of all Apples great device locking ideas passwords finger print face and anything else they can devise, I get a phone call or want to make a call I just want to pickup phone or iPad and start doing it.

Eventually your face will be constantly scanned wherever you go. Just like in the movie Minority Report. Actually it’s already happening in China.

I don’t think apple glasses will focus on gesture control to the point you have to use it a lot. That leaves too many points of failure. It’ll definitely play a part, but like on a level of minority report? Yeeeeesh. I hope but I don’t think it’ll be quite at that point. But for the record I really hope apple glasses lets me feel like iron man.

EDIT: I did not see that this was a zombie thread.

Well, all this Face ID and advanced security features for an iPad I keep at home and never leaves the house. That includes the unneeded added cost. Oh well, I know my cat can’t sneak off with it at night and make high end purchases from PetSmart.
Not everyone keeps their iPads solely at home.

Well executed gesture control doesn’t have to require the kind of tiring, limb moving all over the place movements to work. Been using GMD Gesture Control on my Android devices for years with a ton of customized edge gestures that make one handed phone use great.
