I am like you except I find it hard to believe people are having issues with FaceID as it works so well for me. It is possible that maybe your phone's dot projector or reader my be slightly out of alignment.

I’m also shocked to hear people having trouble. It’s worked far beyond my expectations in my case.

So much so I haven’t even thought about Touch ID once.

Seems to be a love or hate thing. If mine worked as bad as some here claim, I would have returned my X and kept the 8+.
I do have a love/hate relationship with FaceID. I hate that it fails for me many, many times, but I love the way it authenticates me within apps. And when it does work for me, it truly does surpass TouchID. I accept my love/hate relationship because I can see the benefit of FaceID, and also understand that this is only GEN1.

What some seemingly forget about Face ID is the relearn process if it fails by re-entering your password. I find it seems to be a much more improved process over the course of time through the machine learning.

I am afraid I do not need it improved. Works very well for me. I do not even thinks about it anymore, I just swipe up and it is ready.

This has been my experience as well. I feel like I don’t have a passcode on my phone. I don’t even think about it anymore, I just pick up my phone and swipe up, it opens 99.9% of the time.

Snow and temperature? Sunglasses? With TID it’s gloves and anything coating your fingertips like oil, dirt.

I’m convinced there have been changes to iPhone X and later models may have updated chipsets. Or that shipping with 11.3 and never having had 11.0 early builds.

No issues. I worry that a drop could damage or alter alignment or something.

Last year there were reports that FaceID had a very hard time with some ethnicities. Maybe that's a factor?
