I´ve read now multiple forums, news articles and watched Youtube reviews. 80-90% of the people are really disappointed and don´t see the point in this bloated iPod Touch device.

I´m guessing it won´t sell a lot. What do you think?

I´ve read now multiple forums, news articles and watched Youtube reviews. 80-90% of the people are really just jealous they don't have one now and don´t see the point in praising this slimmed breakthrough device.

I´m guessing it will sell millions. What do you think?

I disagree. It will sell millions in my opinion. It is perfectly targeted at Jobs audience of choice; the average consumer.

Walt Mossberg has a good initial review

Gizmodo has a nice take on why it will succeed.

This happens with every Apple product released. It happened with the original iPod, the iPhone and now the iPad.

In a years time, everyone will want/have one. And when Apple releases a new product, the cycle will repeat again.

I think you´re wrong. Hahahah! Breakthrough device? Get real!

War is peace.
Freedom is slavery.
Ignorance is strength.
iPad is Revolutionary. :D

I just said what I think in my opening post. Are you blind?

From what I've seen so far, it seems like its more of a device for consumer then a tech nerd. This is 90% of people, so that will help its sales

Gene Munster estimates 4 million will be sold this year and double that amount in 2011.

And for what it is worth, most everyone who actually got to mess with one hands-on loved it. People just like to bitch.

Sounds like the way the iPod was seen when introduced. So far only 200,000,000 have sold.

Maybe people like to bitch generally, but I don´t. I only do it when there´s something truly worth bitching about! And this would be one of those times. Big difference.

People bitch generally on stuff that they have already tried/bought/experienced in some way. but bitching about something that still has 2 months to be released (and haven't actually even touched one) is just plain disturbing. And this would be one of those times. Big difference.

We all already know what it is and what it does, there´s gonna be no suprises after 2 months. It´s just a larger iPod Touch and we all know it.

anyone who has touched the device - loves it
everyone else - hates it

that speaks volume right there.

this is not going to be like the iphone, where people already had a phone and just simply replaced that need with an iphone.

this will be more like the ipod (which took years to really take off), and even that you can say people just replaced their CD players.

this is going to be a long battle gentlemen (& ladies).

I'm curious as to where you obtained the 80-90% statistic. Would you mind sharing the source you got it from?

Wait, you mean Walt Appleberg - the guy that gives positive reviews for anything-Apple all the time?

I hope you're not serious...

Actually he gives some pretty level-headed reviews. Nice job at being cliche though.

Perhaps you would trust pcmag?
First off, what this thing can do is mind-boggling.

or maybe gruber
But: everyone I spoke to in the press room was raving first and foremost about the speed. None of us could shut up about it. It feels impossibly fast.

The point is the OP made a ridiculous claim that 80-90% of people are disappointed. There are tons of people who beg to differ and think Apple will sell a lot of iPad.

Sorry, but people who were expecting a full blown computer running a desktop OS with touch, all in a little 10" device are just unrealistic. That isn't user-friendly and it doesn't sell. Ask Microsoft about that.

The same repetitive complaint on this site are the same ones said when the iPod was launched and the iPhone as well. How did that turnout.

You say its a big iPod Touch like its a bad thing. Since I got my first iPhone, I have been wanting a "bigger" version of it. Think of all the amazing apps on that 3.5" screen, now think what developers do with a 10" screen.

I can't wait until the developers create some amazing apps for the iPad, wouldn't you like a touch version of Photoshop? Or maybe a multitouch version of Logic?

We all know in a years time you're going to buy one. If you want a laugh, go and look at the threads on here when the original iPod got introduced in 2001, people sound exactly like you and now they're eating their words...

Well pretty much when every 8-9 post/review/youtube clip out of 10 is bashing, that´s how I figured the percentage.

you're just not getting it, are you?? the iPad is a hybrid between the iphone/ipod touch and the macbook... it is a touchscreen wireless device enhanced for gaming, browsing, reading, watching movies... and now they made it with a larger display than the iphone (and with that comes a WHOLE LOT of new potentials) for the consumers that have used an iphone/ipod touch and said, "man i love this! but i wish it had a bigger screen"
want examples? a Piano app... i have one, it is just so hard to play decent tunes with just one octave on-screen... imagine now, i can easily play piano! what about DJ's this could be their next turn tables! etc.. etc... get the picture?:confused:

Exactly! People aren't understanding the point of this device. It isn't supposed to be a full blown computer computer running a desktop OS with touch. That concept has failed.

Steve Jobs echoes your point. From Walt:
Mr. Jobs said after the onstage program ended that he sees the iPad’s user interface as a fuller expression of the one on the iPhone, which had been limited by screen real estate.

Basically this a prequel to the iPhone, just released after the fact. This device will garner an entirely new take on how mobile applications should be developed and interact with users. They are making a device that we didn't know we needed.

I bet 50% of buyers don't realize the iPad does not come with a full browser that supports Flash or addons.

and I bet the other 50% of buyers realize that IT IS NOT, I repeat IT IS NOT a full-blown OS! it is a tablet device! you want addons?! get an iMac or macbook!! you want flash? get a frickin HP tablet PC then, and stop the bickering!!!

I really don't understand how anyone can come away from that video shouting "it's a big iPod Touch!"

I can't do practically anything the iPad can do on m iPhone, except run iPhone apps.
