Yes I did jump from my iPhone 4s to the Samsung Galaxy S4. The reason I jumped before I got the phone is because I am sick of iOS being the samee ach year and it doesnt change.

Instantly after getting the S4 I knew I made the right choice, if I do not like something on the phone I can just change it. Coming from iOS widgets are very good and convenient for me, I also like lock screen widgets which are customisable, I also got 50gb of dropbox for free for 2 years and can store 20000 songs in the google cloud.

I would highly recommend changing to android.

Okidoks!

So what, you need some sort of validation for the switch?

It's funny because Android hasn't really changed at all over the years. Sure it's gotten prettier with different widgets, but it's still the same icon based OS.

So basically the main reason why you switched was because iOS was boring. And you INSTANTLY knew you made the right choice because Android is different. Very well thought out reasons.

It took 3 months of me using Android before I became disillusioned and switched back.

I'm not saying iOS is better. It was more to do with my own personal situation and preferences.

But your post is...lacking.

As i have said many many times. The grass is not always greener, it's often just 'different' grass.

But i think it's important people do try each OS out for themselves. The more folks that switch from one to the other (regardless of iOS to android or android to iOS and lets not forget windows phone too) it means that the companies ned to try and reinvigour their OS's.

iOS 7 looks like it will be the first major kick in the bum for iOS since the introduction of the app store. It really needs it.

Likewise Android and especially manufacturers skins need to learn to take a design leaf out of apple and create seamless UI experiences that don't get bogged down in bloatware and lag. You can add dozens of features but if the culmination of adding them is at the detriment of the general user experience then they need to be taken out or re-worked.

What ever OS you choose, what ever handset you choose at least there is a good selection of really decent hardware out there right now.

iPhone 5, 5S (will likely be better than its brother) , the S4, HTC One, Xperia z, Lumia 820, 920, Blackberry Z10, Q10, Nexus 4, LG Optimus G

They are all strong phones hardware wise. Eventually we will reach a plateau of where hardware can go and what new hardware they can include - then even more emphasis will be placed on the software and the general user experience.

Why I jumped from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy S4.

How can I delete this post? Tapatalk for ipad acting up.... Sorry guys

I agree and as a long time android user I've come to appreciate apples simplicity and uniformity.

4 months for me. I came back. I won't touch android again.

We are a month away from an iOS redesign at WWDC. You can easily use Google Music with an iPhone.

I'm trying Android for the first time this week, but some of your reasoning is off here.

I've never really understood these types of threads. I don't need the consent, and blessing of this forum to validate my smartphone choices in life. Best of luck to the OP though!

If you'd actually used Android for any use of time you'd know the vast amount of changes with regards to performance, features and UI design which has occurred.

Your statement is purposefully vague and meaningless and could be applied to anything *

* OS X is basically the same System 1. They both have windows, icons and a menubar.

A "redesign" no new features

That's bull. You can customise it as much as you want. Thats why it's not as in need of a makeover. There's no standard set up. And just to let you know, I'm a big apple and iphone fan. I'm just being honest

Hasn't changed at all over the years?

One is garbage, one is the most advanced mobile operating system I've ever experienced (and I've been blackberry, Palm, Android, ios, Windows and a small trip to symbian) and they are nothing alike

Not to mention, if he/she really thinks that about Android, what does he/she think about iOS, then?! (Somewhat rhetorical because we probably know the answer).

exactly my thought. why do people come back and make such thead? "why i switched to android", "why i switched to apple", etc.,. just go in silence. we all know that people have different taste, needs, and so forth. NO need to justify your purchase to strangers, really.

I love how all the Apple fanboys get so upset when someone leaves the flock for greener pastures and then comes back here, to the "Alternatives to iOS and iOS devices" section of the site, to describe their experience. If the OP was talking about how crappy his experience was, you'd all be jumping up and down and smiling from ear to ear. But wow...let him say he's happy for the move and you're all offended to high heaven.

I've got an idea...how about all the iPhone-only users just stay out of this sub forum. You can have the rest of the site to yourselves. Stop coming here just so you can get your false outrage going.

Amen to that.

You did notice this is the Alternatives to iOS and iOS Devices section?

I ask you the same thing as above.

What do you guys expect to be posted in this section? If it bothers you then why read the threads? Insecurity?

Do we have to explain it to Apple fan boys?

Do we have to be ignorant and start calling people fan boys rather than use linguistic skills to formulate a coherent argument to make your point.

Seriously anyone who throws out the 'fanboy' name calling instantly loses any argument or debate they are attempting to make.
