Interesting because you lambasted me for having the same viewpoint as you have declared here on another thread and suggested because I didn't want widgets to come to iOS, I didn't want anyone else to have the option. I never made that claim in the first place but perhaps I didn't elaborate enough to make things clearer.
I have used widgets on my Android devices and got fed up of them. I don't like them but if they gave you freedom to turn them off unlike many of iOS's principles, I would support the freedom of choice should they come to the iPhone. Android give you the option which is great and I like yourself ended up using my Samsung S3 much the same way as I do with my present iPhone. Now what is wrong with admitting that and why did I get criticised for offering my personal preferences as a suggestion? Very puzzling indeed.
lol calm down mate. Di you notice a logical flaw in bold?
I will explain.
If you don't want widgets to come to iOS, you don't want anyone else to have that option.
Wait, how?
Because there is no one else making iOS handsets.
So if they don't come to iOS, no one gets them, period.
I could care less if they come or not. I don't use them anyway. I am pointing out the logical flaws you keep making.

I don't use widgets on my Nexus 7 either, they take up way too much room on the screen. You seem like the exception to the rule though.
The only widget i did use was dashclock on lockscreen (N4 on 4.2.2) simply because it gave me lockscreen notifications and it looks like a 100% baked in feature thanks to the strict UI adherence by the developer.
I would probably use a widget on nexus 7 though. The thing is, their "view me only" nature is not something i like. I want much more interactive widgets and all we have a resize-able windows to show content. If i want to see content, i can simply tap on an app and save my battery life.
There are much more sane reasons to use android (at least to me) than widgets.
