1. A split screen would not be very practical for me. The screen is too small and the controls on the touch interface would be difficult to use. There might be some applications that work well, but I think they would be few and far between. The multitasking gestures work great, and I like moving between full screens with a swipe.

2. There are tons of weather and stock apps in the App Store. I really don't see this as a big deal.

3. A centralized file system might be nice, but with cloud storage and apps like Goodreader, it really hasn't been much of a problem for me. I have adjusted my workflow somewhat, and moved more content to the Cloud.....which has actually been a good thing.

I also think it's important to mention how a good chunk of Samsung tablets include a decent stylus with the tablet. While I may not use a stylus with my iPad very often, it is a good thing to have every once in a while when you do not feel like writing with your finger or typing. If you don't use it, you just stick it back in it's place inside the tablet where it doesn't cause any issues whatsoever.

It is not something big for most people, but it is just another advantage Samsung has now. If you don't need it, don't use it, but it's there and comes along free with the purchase. Not big a deal but certainly a good thing for Samsung.

When all you got are phone apps (and very few tablet optimized apps), of course you are going to promote that you can put two phone apps next to each other.

Stylus? Back to the 90s we go!

My few comments about a few comments on here:

1. Yes, that's right. When I want to comment to someone on email about something I read on the net or something not the net that triggered a thought, I'd love to multitask and swipe three fingers right to access email, type, swipe three fingers left to quote something from an article, swipe right again to go back to my email to finish it up. Oops! I think I saw something in the article that might add further relevance to email. Ok, I'm cool with swiping now. Swipe left to access article again. Cool. Scroll up or down to where that specific part is. Ok, I have a good memory. Cool. Back to swiping right again and finish off the email. Hell, who needs two apps, one below the other? That's for lazy people :rolleyes::eek:

2. So some of you "hate" to have 2 apps open in the same screen. Ok, that's cool. Everybody has choices. That's why there's something called multitask on or off. So leave it off and guess what!? You probably won't even know you have that functionality on your device. Just what you wanted right? No multitasking where you have 2 apps open on the same screen.

Win win! :D

1. No proper multiple apps on screen and multitasking.
+++1. I find it painful not to be able to grab and drag text between web pages and email messages, or onto a word document. Having a calculator up next to a spreadsheet, etc. Two apps side-by-side is needed to be productive, which is why I keep returning to my MBA. And why I might end up departing the pattern and going to a Win8 tablet, once a mature one is released. The only thing that keeps me is the tight ecosystem.

Swiping left and right. Too painful, takes too long, breaks the stream of concentration. Want to copy numbers off the calculator registers onto a word document? Swipe back and forth, back and forth. You gotta be kidding me. Different needs for different people, I know.

One of the biggest improvements in Windows 7 was the automatic sizing of windows on your screen so you could easily keep two documents on the screen. WIN + LEFT makes a document perfectly sit on the left side of the screen, WIN+RIGHT makes the other document sit perfectly on the right side of the screen. Yes, dual monitors are better, but not all of us can convince the IT folks of that at work. To me, the ability to look at two different documents or applications is vital for a productive work environment.

2. Still no stock weather, stocks apps on iPad, even on iOS 7
meh. Plenty available.

3. Still no proper file management on the iPad or iOS as a whole for that matter.
Only a +1 on this one. Yes, some way to sort and store documents would be nice, but Apple is not the only one who has dropped the ball on this. I have hundreds of kindle books, and they are all in a jumble. The ability to sort them would be a big improvement, and that is a bigger PIA to me then ipad documents in general. But I don't used Ipad for productivity (see #1 above), so that might make the difference.

You missed my biggest beef with Ipad: give me CURSOR buttons already. UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT. Document creation is painful without it. Unbelievable, there is plenty of room on the screen to add them to the keyboard.

Ipad is a great device..apple's best by some distance but I agree with the points and it's why I'm likely selling my ipad 2 for the note 10.1 2014 rather than the new ipad.

multitasking with spilt screen is a big thing here with what you can also use. same goes for the abilty to use an S pen. Which has been great on my note 8.0.

and now the note 10.1 has an even better screen than the ipad for now it's a no brainer now that I have the other note devices.

Apple will possibly at some point allow multiple apps on the screen. Rest assured, when they do, it will work better than the half-baked options I've tried on other platforms so far.

Apps? Who really cares? Apples weather app is adequate at best anyhow.

You'll never see a file system as it is the antithesis of what has made iOS successful. Learn to work around it with a service like Dropbox instead.

Apple loves consumers like you. :apple:

Splitscreen multitasking (no, it doesn't lag), swipe typing, and annotating/sketching with the S pen make my Note 2 just fly when it comes to productivity. The iPad has none of these and that's why I'm getting a Note 10.1 as my next tablet. It will be an ultraportable laptop supplement in a way the iPad simply is not even close to being.

Sure, I'll miss the odd app, and the iPad itself is a better looking device, but the choice really is a no-brainer for me considering what I'm getting in terms of functionality.

I completely agree with you, and if not for certain apps I need for work being exclusive on iOS, I wouldnt have an iPad. I really hope they bring a more Mac like expierence to iPad, I can already envision on how that could work with the additions they've made in Mavaricks.

Why not have a stylus when it is free with the product (Samsung) and can be tucked out of sight when not needed? Then when you do, it's back in action, and ready to go. :)

stylus are just a great idea. Love it on my note 8.0 and it's a big reason for me getting the note 3 and likely note 10.1.

How much are you guys getting paid by Samsung? Might consider having a go myself if the price is right.

I have never wanted to multitask on my iPad. Heck, I have NEVER multitasked on my computer for like the last 10+ years except for instant messaging, and I don't even do that anymore. Why don't I do it? Because having two HUGE programs open at the same time used to be an issue, and I just learnt not to do it.

I have never liked the iOS weather app. The Android ones are pretty lacking too. Third-party apps are much better.

Same thing with Stocks.

I have a program called PhoneView I use with my iOS devices to handle file management. I've been using it since the Leopard days.

Buying a $300+ tablet just for the $40 pen is a joke. I bought a $300+ iPad Mini, bought the $500+ EXCLUSIVE apps to use on it, and am going to buy that $80 Wacom stylus that is coming out to use alongside my Jot Pro.

I am happy with my setup, and I paid a lot of good money to use it for my needs. Sure, where the Samsung Galaxy Notes do well, the iPads aren't great at, but where the iPad excels, it blows away every single tablet in existence that doesn't have a Intel Core or higher processor and is basically a Tablet PC running Windows.

But even those make really bad tablets.

Hey, I think my iPad is great and all, but side by side multitasking and a file system are incredibly powerful tools.

You've got to be kidding me. You don't multitask on your computer? On any given day I'm running at least six applications on my work computer. When I'm home, there are at least four at the same time. These things have multicore processors and gigs of RAM for a reason.

It's amazing that Apple thinks iOS users are too stupid to understand basic file managers when those same users have absolutely no problem using Windows Explorer and Finder, and have been able to do so for a long time.

I read on Wall Street that they're still waiting for Apple to bust out.

Waiting .

2014, 2015, 2016 or never.

Apple is terribly behind and yet people are buying Apple products and Apple stock based on potential to re-gain what made Apple special 5 years ago.

I work in the Stock Market and people are selling (why apple stock is down) but it's still getting bought up in bulk by traders. Why? in the next two, three months, Apple will introduce Ipad and iPad Mini. Then stock goes up, traders sell for quick profit and we'll see what happens next. LOL

The negative hype is SO helping traders make a quick buck.

I ain't so sure a Mini and new IPad announcement will move the stock. At this point, Apple best have those being blockbuster products. The iPad 4 was a train wreck compared to the Mini in sales.

Yea, I think side-by-side is really nice especially if you are a student. It's would be nice to have a video lecture open while I am taking notes without having to swipe back and forth.

I don't have a Galaxy Note, but there are "floating apps" on the Play Store, which lets you use two apps on the same screen.

Are you kidding me! An active digitizer is awesome when taking notes, editing photos, etc. It also allows a much greater level of precision than a finger or capacitive stylus when you are using remote desktop from your tablet.

It's amazing that Apple thinks iOS users are too stupid to understand basic file managers when those same users have absolutely no problem using Windows Explorer and Finder, and have been able to do so for a long time.

Actually, a huge number of those same users have been basically baffled by file managers for decades. I've supported any number of family, friends and acquaintances who have been using computers for decades who never really 'get' the file system organization. They may figure it out by doing things by rote - that is, they follow exactly the same steps every time - but if they miss a step, or accidentally save a file in the wrong place? They can't figure it out. I've seen this across WAY too many people in too many lines of work - people who are smart and successful in their own lives to think this is a quirk.

It was GENIUS to leave the file system inaccessible to the users in iOS. Want a file system? Choose a different device.

Wow, that was simple.

The thing is, there are tablets available that have this stuff. I have a Surface Pro, I have Android tablets. They do their own things well. The iPad is the one I reach for 98% of the time though because it does SO MANY different things better than tablets that strive to be a computer more than an appliance. I have computers. What I want much of the time is an appliance that is ALWAYS ready to go with no issues. My iPads have been filling that need for years. I can only hope Apple continues to ignore all these requests for MORE FEATURES!!

I find the iPad boring. I mainly use my iPad 2 now as just one of my alarm clocks, don't even browse on it anymore. My next tablet will definitely be Android based. Most likely Galaxy Note. I just can't see myself upgrading to another iPad. Yes the hardware in the lastest iPads are an huge improvement but iOS is basically still the same.

While switching back and forth works, I do find it useful to be able to show a PDF file on the top half of my screen and a note-taking app on the bottom half, which many of the Samsung products can do.
