It's one thing to be politically correct, it's another thing to be annoying. This is annoying. By the way, I don't think many of those 5.7 billion people are going to have the resources or desire to buy an iPad. How many do you think they will be able to sell in Papa New Guinea?

What's annoying? The fact that there is a world of people outside of the US? Or that people that aren't American don't give a **** about America?

Does any other pricing matter?
I think some of the posters after this needed a sarcasm sign. So, here goes:

so you think anybody living in Japan, the UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, South Africa and many more will probably not care about this device ? There are many more people outside of the US who care about iPad.

I think this whole nasty dispute could have been avoided if "Chundles" had used the term "International Pricing" instead of "official" pricing.

I believe that we'll get our next big batch of info in a couple-3 weeks when the OS4 (possibly 3.2) show occurs in March as it seems to each year.

Some if not all of the new features leaking out of the SDK (e.g. file sharing, video chat, dashboard/widgets, etc.) will be officially announced concurrent with firm pre-order dates on the iPad. That will of course lead to a new round of teeth gnashing on the part of naysayers, and rejoicing on the part of believers.

My $.02.

Really? I thought the world ended at the Unites States' borders. I spend most of my time living in Ghana, where if you wanted to buy an iPad you'd have to get it imported for probably twice the cost (They used to sell iPod classics for $700). I wasn't criticizing the question, I was merely criticizing the tone. If you live in a country with official sellers of Apple products, they are typically within one or two hundred dollars of Apple's prices in the United States. Incidentally, Apple is an American company, so that makes quite a bit of sense.

I don't think they were saying that we would not care about the iPad but that first world countries with higher standards of living can't afford American prices.

Maybe I will buy ten iPads with the money I am not spending on private healthcare.

And a few Macs with the extra money I make compared to my American occupational equivalent.

I hope they announce international prices and 3G deals. Kind of frustrating not knowing how much it will be overhere. I also want a status report on iBooks outside the US, then I would be happy.

You mean you all are net receiving the weekly updates? mmm

I've been getting updates ever since signing up for them on the Apple site.

Of course, but there is a world outside the US, and I hate reading 20 times a day:
'Danish prices to be announced'

Can't we just all hold hands and get along?

And sing the Apple theme song?

BTW, what is the Apple theme song?

If there's one thing out of a myriad of things that americans know very little about it's sarcasm and that wasn't a sarcastic post fyi.

Does anyone have any idea why they are not talking about the ipad?

Contrast. Anything they want to say will stand out a lot more (and get millions of $$$ of free publicity), if forum-types like you are going crazy from the preceding silence.

It's like they're playing a dramatic music composition.

Obviously because the iPad's marketing is targeting Mama New Guinea.

I am waiting for its release in Singapore.... At least you see "XXXX to be announced"... I don't even see this in Singapore's Apple website....

apple are the masters about creating hype around their products. I would imagine the silence is due to unannounced features.

Look at all the publicity its getting simply being shown running 3.2 imagine what it will be like when the full features are shown!
