I've never seen 3.5 Mbps from my iPhone.
It's all where you live. I regularly get between 2.5 and 4 Mbps on my iPhone. Sadly, I can't go in the grocery store and make a call though....
I've never seen 3.5 Mbps from my iPhone.
What I mean future I mean near future like the summer according to the AT&T tech that's why he was there. However you said with AT&T it was 0.

AT&T's idea of a "complete rollout" and Verizon's are not one and the same. (As can be seen by the current 3G map comparison)
I ask this in all seriousness. I think the iPhone 4 was released in the middle of July 2010. That means if you wait five months you'll be able to pay the same price for a better phone or a lower price for the same phone. Apple has been pretty religious about the upgrade cycles for iPods, iPhones and it looks the same for iPads.
We obviously don't know what's going to be in the next iPhone, but at this point last year you would've missed out on the retina display, HD video camera, the still camera upgrade (is it now 5MP or 3.2?), the front-facing camera plus FaceTime, etc. etc. You also missed out on using the "Find My iPhone" feature for free and the gyroscope. OK, I have no idea if I even use the gyroscope, but you don't have it on the 3GS.
I just want the people about to rush out and buy a Verizon iPhone to remember this. I have had the "OH HOW STUPID!" feeling every time I bought a Mac because twice I missed a refresh by five weeks -- one of those was the damn Intel switch -- and the last one I missed saving about $150 thanks to Black Friday sales. I had no computer when I bough that last one, so it's not as bad, but I digress. If you can hold out for about five months, you'll get a better phone that won't be outdated as soon. The iPhone 3GS owners can't use some of the iOS 4 features and I don't know whether original iPhone owners can use it at all. So just be prepared before switching. I've got a while before my contract runs out and I know to be sure I know what I'm doing before committing to two years of whatever.

Most everybody will stay with AT&T. They simply don't want to wait all day for a web page to load. People want a fast web experience, they don't want to go back in time and deal with extremely poor data speeds.
Maybe not look at this map. Rollout for AT&T is set to be complete by March 31st and 3G coverage looks very very good compared to Verizon.
Yeah - Verizon has better coverage in my area than AT&T. Enough said. Are you joking? Perhaps you've never looked at or experienced Verizon's 3G coverage.

I love how it says "Future Coverage"Maybe not look at this map. Rollout for AT&T is set to be complete by March 31st and 3G coverage looks very very good compared to Verizon.
Yep - it's quite obvious vzw has better coverage. Are you joking? Perhaps you've never looked at or experienced Verizon's 3G coverage.

Fast data and simultaneous data/voice are useless to me if I can't get a reliable signal anyway. I'm switching to Verizon because I'm sick of dropping calls. You're lucky if you live in an area with reliable at&t service. I, however, do not.
And that's why carrier choice is good.

+1. I don't use ATT but I agree with this poster.
Possibly, but 4G will be the next coverage (and speed) battle.Yes Verizon has better 3G coverage at present however by March 31st it looks like they will be equal in 3G coverage or very close.
I'm referring to future, March 31st and it's evident as alot of areas have just recently got 3G coverage.

You maybe right about the equal coverage part but it all depends until it fully takes place and is set to go. If there is one thing I have learned in the past 30 years or so... it's best to let the technology take it's stand before jumping ship; hence, it may be beneficial to wait for ATT to lay out their plan and present it in action first and then release an updated map with new coverage locations rather than a future preview of it.

Did you actually look at the 2 maps?? At the same time? If you did, you really suck at reading maps. They are not even similar in coverage....even the future coverage.
I did exactly that and they are not even close. A hell of a lot more white on the AT&T map.
Why are you talking about yourself in third person? If you want the phone on Verizon, just get it and don't go feeling the need to justify it to every man and his dog!For a lot of people it's the voice side of things.
They absolutely LOVE their iPhones, and wont get rid of them but they have poor voice quality in their area. Now they have an option for best of both worlds (as long as their not data/voice at same time dependent).
A friend of mine is a good example. He lives in NY, works in Manhattan and he is provided an iPhone for his job (he is the head of the Windows division of an IT firm). So he's always on his data constantly for work but has to have a second phone for voice services because he has constant dropped call issues in the area's he's in most often.
He rarely needs data/voice at the same time, though. So he's going to Verizon because he can get all the same apps, etc, and features of his ATT phone but like his voice phone (verizon) he wont have to deal with the dropped calls.
He could wait 5 months, but then he'd have to put up with 5 months more of a second phone.
The only thing I can think is that lots of people were so sold on the iPhone 4 that they bought one even though they did not have good AT&T coverage where they normally live, work and travel.I ask this in all seriousness.
