The thing I don't understand is why is 3G not an option...you can sync music, apps and books with 3G....why not photos?? Kinda kills the whole point of photo stream.

Data plans aside, your uplink speed via 3G is generally a fraction of your downlink speed. It would take a LOOOOONG time to upload a bunch of 8MP photos over 3G.

This could be such a cool feature if only they allowed the option to use it over cellular (3G/4G). If my wife takes pics of my kids at school, I'd love to automatically get the pics while at work.

Apple, please at least give the cellular option!

I agree, Photo Stream over 3G would be very cool and make it much more useful.

In the meantime, check out this new (free) app… it's getting great notices. Very easy and elegant, share batches of photos in online galleries. It's quite a bit nicer than any previous attempt at the same:

LOL! 3G network is already quite slow and you guys want many useless pictures to be streamed over 3G network. You guys gotta remember, EVERY picture you take with the phone (screenshots, images saved) will get sent to Photo Stream (if you have the option turned on). This will eat up your battery usage ALIVE. Then you guys will start complaining why the battery sucks on the phone, why the 3g network is so slow, blah blah blah.

We all waste bandwidth one way or another, but we just need to cut it down as much as we can.

There are many flaws with Photo Stream right now and it's pretty much an useless option since you can even delete a few photos from Photo Stream easily.
