I don't think it's "Better" but has some features that are better than iOS (and vise versa, some android sync features suck). Touch-wiz has great features like smart-stay, but it does have a ugly UI which is a bad copy of iOS.
I tried using stock android ROMS on my GS3, but found the default 4.1 with nova laucher to hide touch-wiz is the best. iOS is good, but boring to me after using it for 4 straight years. Hopefully Johnny Ive will refresh the UI

For me personally, Samsung is giving me almost everything I want in a smartphone, hardware and software wise. Most other smartphone makers seem to skimp out on some of the most important features I want. Like how the HTC One skimps out on expandable memory.

Also, TouchWiz is the most user friendly Android skin out right now. It's like iOS on steroids added with the openness of Android itself , so people are more familiar with the basic functions if coming from an iPhone. And the features Samsung included with TouchWiz do have that wow factor towards the general public.

Say what you want about plastic, but realize .......... It's working out just fine for consumers.

iPhone's slow progression to get with the times and with other smartphone manufacturers always missing a one or two key elements, it's not hard to see why Samsung is on a hot streak.

Even if HTC could match Samsung's marketing budget, I don't think it would make a difference. Look how much marketing MS did for WP.

Anther thing I find with Android that is handy is the app integration between apps. When Apple announced in the last few version of iOS that they were getting Twitter integration and the later Facebook integration, I was kinda confused as these seem to be basic functions that should be there. I later understood that iOS does not allow a lot of this integration. On Android, when you want to say, share a web page, you get a list of all of the apps that you can use to share. My messaging, email, FB, Twitter, Google+, and many more apps are on the list.
.

This is one of the best things about android, sharing a picture, sound or U-tube video ect is seamless in Android, you have the option to share via any app you choose. In ios you get a few options and that's it.

OK, can someone tell me why the Samsung phones are now considered (at least by some) to be superior to iPhone. I have no exposure to them - I've never touched a Samsung phone, I don't know anyone that uses one and I think I've seen one on the train to work, but I'm not sure. (Those aren't pejorative statements, just stating my situation.) I -think- the iPhone does everything I need it to do, i.e. there are no missing features or performance issues that scream out to me. That said, clearly there are additional features of the Samsung phones that people seem to think are missing from the iPhone. Can someone please tell me what those features/capabilities are? The only thing I've learned from their commercials are that I can wirelessly beam a playlist to someone. Trust me, no one want's my playlists.

I'm totally serious here. Not a set-up or a request to bash one platform over another. There just seem to be lots of people who are very passionate about Samsung's phone, and I'm curious why that is.

I dont know what to say really other than if you enjoy what you have now why bother looking for something "better" ? In the end it will be a non-stop cycle of always looking for the "best"; now the question is are you willing to try and see if its superior in your opinion or are you so happy that wont even bother ? :)

Goodluck
