i think the outline on macOS version looks hideous, compared to iOS version. Even in dark mode the Mac dock looks lighter, while iOS has a more true frost/glass appeal that compliments whatever you’re in dark or light mode.

Didn’t Apple want to the design to sync between their devices? This has been such an issue ever since Big Sur, that every iOS design they implemented over to macOS looks like a downloaded “theme” from deviant art…

I agree. I also hate the space between the bottom of the screen and the dock. We're losing that screen space for no reason at all.

Omg that, too! It’s not symmetrical at all. At least windows 11 did it right with the spacing on their dock

lol, he mentions Windows, lol they got more issues going on in that spiderweb than a 2px border around a dock lol lol lol
lol, he enters the thread to indirectly comment on something between 2 people, and not even having the nerve to click quote....and it's "she".

You'll forgive me if I see no significant difference here (top is your image, bottom is my iPhone 12 dock . . . obviously the background colors aren't the same, so it's not a perfect 1:1 comparison, but I think it makes the point). I don't understand how anyone could call the top one "hideous" and not say the same thing about the bottom one - they're pretty much identical!

Put your own screenshot next to both of OP's. You'll see your mistake...

LOL! "mistake" We're talking about a matter of opinion. So the edges of the dock in macOS are slightly defined in the top screen shot. Horrors! I personally think either way looks nice. Look, I'm a very anal person myself, but this is taking things to an extreme that even makes me shake my head.

I always used to run a tool to make my dock completely transparent. There is no need for the dock bar.

which goes with 'reduce transparency'.

i'm with usagora; the outline seems like a non-issue, but no harm in discussing it, as long as you accept that apple isn't going to remove that line because 3 people on a forum don't like it.
But if the dock is a solid block of colour, it shouldn't need an outline.

Personally I did NOT notice the outline until I read this thread which could mean that my eye sight is failing, I am going senile, or it isn't that "in your face". HOWEVER, now I see it it fekks me off no end.
