I really need to learn to use my iPhone's camera better. I usually use my DSLR, but it's weight means that it's not always with me.

I will be pre-ordering the XS Max this evening/morning (3AM EST :( ).

They’ve been doing this since the beginning. The original iPhone didn’t get MMS for no particular reason. iPhone 3G didn’t get home screen wallpapers.

And I think some iPads didn't get multitasking or something even though it had been demonstrated to work just fine on the jailbreak version. It's the dark side of Apple that is not talked about enough. They will just straight up cut features from specific models for no good reason. Ok, sometimes there is a real technical reason behind it. For example if the iPhone XS Max gets split screen at some point you can bet it won't be available on the XS or XR even though there is no technical limitation for it apart from not being that great a user experience.

So you’re gonna ignore something that does what you want? lol

Do you have comprehension problems?

There’s a benefit in convenience and time saving when having it INTEGRATED in the natural/default app. I’m just saying that is as important as having the feature; FOR ME. “lol”.

I've searched a lot and I found out that the Depth field effect is completely different. Most people think (even I did before) that the only thing it was doing was blurring or unblurring the background but that's not all it does. It actually creates a 3D depth between the subject and the background and blurs the lights almost like a DSLR camera would. I'm sure Apple didn't feature it on the X for marketing reasons so they would push the XS sales, although it can able be due to the A12 chip and it's improved neural engine which can smoothly create and move the depth of field.

Why didn't Apple announce that the iPhone X is getting the new computational photography features through a software update?

Given how cutting edge the iPhone X is, surely it would have been possible. My Pixel 2 has those features on lesser hardware.

The features are a big deal and would give the X a new lease on life. After all, it already has great sensors.

It’s common sense bro. Think about it. It’s business.

Are you just gonna insult me for no reason?

Probably. Apple are kings of planned obsolescence and have a history of withholding features that could be delivered via software updates.

Further more, the X was a bit of a first generation product and the successors were bound to be cheaper and better which is why I told my GF to hold off buying an iPhone last year. The 8 Plus looked old and the X was too expensive for what it offers.

I guess that you haven't seen the Google Pixel 3 ;)
