IOS 15 okay until Apple brings back the auto reply to a message on IMessage. I use my phone for business and don’t want to reply to clients when away and want to let them know that I am away and what they can do to get service. Great feature no longer. The IPhone is now more of a toy then a business tool. Bad move Apple.

This functionality is available via setting/activating a Focus. E.g.:

That is for phone calls only not I not Imessage. You can use your custome message for the phone. I do a lot of business with people by Imessage. Plus its will driving not for the duration while I’m away and not available.

Are you sure? At least when I use the Driving-focus I regularly receive iMessages from the iPads of elderly relatives and I’m pretty sure that they get my configured auto-reply (I’m going to check that later). That’s on iOS 15.0.2.

I tested it using my wife’s phone. It does not work with Imesaage only phone calls. Once again, I can do a custom outgoing message for my calls. IOS 15 is not a perfect business tool. It lacks what I and many others need.

I think Slartibart is correct. The Driving focus sees to be the only one that can auto-reply to text messages. So set that one up for when you're "Away" and customize the auto-reply message.

A more ludicrous and ridiculous assertion I've yet to read.

@JMT$ How is auto-reply to incoming messages set up on iOS 14?
Not motivation but notification. I’ve tried everything everyone has mentioned. Does not work. Hopefully someone from Apple will read this and they fix it with a firmware update.

Macrumors maybe widely read amongst the general public but it's an absolute given they don't make iOS changes based upon a random complaint posted here.

I did place a compliant with their programming department. Let’s see if the little light comes on.

Pleas explain just how you did this? Feedback assistant?

Your post makes it sound like you have some sort of direct ‘in’ with Apple…

Does it really matter? Apple won't act on complaints until there are so many that it starts affecting sales. With Apple, you get what they give you. And since this is probably not a issue for most users, the complaint will fall on deaf ears.

Interesting how one feature ruined it for you. Microsoft/Blackberry have always been more focused on the "business" side of the house and I don't think anyone ever categorized iPhones as a serious business tool. Either re-think how your customers interact with you or move on from Apple if it bothers you this much. IMO, unless it was an emergency or I specifically gave it to them customers would never have my personal phone number which is why most people have work & personal phones. Not separating work from personal life is a recipe for mental disaster and setting boundaries with your customers is important. You should have a personal and work email as well not a combined one...this is all basic stuff.

Honestly, it just feels like you're not effectively managing your personal vs. professional life which is one of the first things you need to establish when having customers/clients but cool if you want to blame it on an iOS upgrade ha.

I can totally see how that feature will make iOS 15 unusable for businesses everywhere. Everyone back to iOS14, stat!

Alright, I checked Settings -> Notifications -> Messages on iOS 14, but I don't see an auto-reply option there.

Just to make sure, I also checked Settings -> Messages, nothing there either.

Can you please clarify further how you used to set up auto-reply to iMessages in iOS 14?

Beats me. This is all I have on 14.8

@JMT$ are you sure this feature ever existed?

This link here would seem to indicate the answer is "no".

I've never heard of it existing on any version of iOS

That's a pretty over-the-top headline, JMT. The only way you could have been doing auto-replies in ios 14 is via DND while Driving. It's now moved to Focus. Apple didn't take anything away. They added more control to DND. Hope you can make it work for you.

That headline's not talking about iOS, they're talking about ISO 15, which is a standard about rolling bearings. ;) :p
