Everyone assumes it's because they want to make more money in the second revision. It's a simple fact of the matter that doing so would suck the battery dry, and on top of it, who thinks AT&T's 3G network could even support it at this time?

If they put a camera opposite side on the home button when in portate , people would bitch about it being on the side when in landscape. And vice versa. Cant win.

if there would be a frontfacing camera and people would youse a lot of skype etc zhis will melt down the profit of the carriers. So this may be a reason why the Ipod touch don´t have the camera till now!! This coould get mixed up too much with the Iphone and that is not wanted. It is better to seperate devices to sell more!!!

No front facing camera=typical Apple business plan. Give the masses just enough to get a bunch of people to buy it. Then with second revision in a year, put in a new thing to get those early adopters to feel like they have to buy it again, plus add new buyers. IF they give us all what we wanted right away, there would be no incentive to get people to buy the newer version again in a year. :D

PS. I have got to get some more Apple stock. ;)

As a handheld device . . . what would be the most comfortable "angle?"

It isn't going to look like that when docked, and I'm sure many more will use it like a laptop (with a keyboard) replacement as time goes on.

Didn't stop them from adding stuff to the iPhone that sucks the battery dry like crazy, in which case customers will train themselves to refrain from using it on battery power (it'd be docked). They could also make it available only over wireless due to "not enough bandwidth."

It has a 10 hour battery. Don't even try to use that as an excuse. Cheap netbooks with 4-5 hours of battery life have webcams. And Apple can make iChat WiFi only if it had to. Plus, it would open it up to other developers which I think would make the iPad platform explode with possibilities.

In addition, mobile devices containing cameras are prohibited in many corporate, professional settings. Let the camera be optional so that the ipad can make its way into the world of business without causing security concerns.
