Everyone is saying it will be a major jump from gen 1 to gen 2. I also think it will be a major jump. But in tech there just never is a good time to buy. Right? So I will be buying first gen, because I want now damn it!
No, everybody is *hoping* that it'll be a major jump from 1. gen to 2. gen. But why everyone expects battery technology, which is required to make the watch significantly better, to make a giant leap from out of nowhere is questionable. Granted, the iPad 2 was a major leap forward, but otherwise, I don't see it happening.

I see no relevance for it, it simply doesnt do anything new or move the game on. The battery life (reported) is shockingly poor, the screen is too small, the UI is a childs toy and its just too much of a gimmick. Plenty of other sports bands on the market and none of them are limited like the apple one.

For me, it's easy. I don't wear a watch. Been about 20 years since I even had one on, and I'm not sure I could get use to it again.

Durability - how much of a beating can it take? Official water resistance seems to be a matter of National Security as are impact and vibration resistance.

Battery Life - How can a watch monitor your sleep if it needs to be charged every night?

All that stated, I hope it sells well enough for Apple and other engineering firms to continue pushing the wearable envelope. It may not be right upon initial release, but it needs to be right enough to show business promise or we'll have another Newton on our hands.

Post your reasons why you shouldn't or wouldn't get the Apple Watch here.

I have several watches.

They last more than a day on battery life, several in fact have gone for over 5 years.

My iPhone does most of what the Apple watch is purported to do... Except send my heart beat to my wife....

It's going to be costly as an accessory to the iPhone, the iPhone that needs to be in close proximity to the watch for the watch to apparently be able to do most of what the phone does anyway.

The homescreen is juvenile-ugly in my opinion.

I don't like the overall shape. Round watches just seem nicer to me.

I DO like the ability to change the face though by software. And I DO like the tactile touch concept that apparently recognises swipe versus push down.

Some nice technology. On a pointless piece of jewellery. TO ME. I appreciate others will feel different. This tactile technology on an iPhone? Possibilities....

Until a watch comes with Night Rider capabilities I have no use for one. All of these watches are a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. If your too lazy to pull your phone out for a notification you should start a jogging routine. If you already have a jogging routine, then a fitbit is all you need. These things are a forced fad that will flounder out of the gate. There's a reason that none of the android watches sales figures have been thrown out to the media. There were no sales.

Well, I think we know, it's not "no sales" just that, there is limited demand.

I know 1 person with a Smartwatch. A Samsung Galaxy Gear.
To be honest, I don't know anyone who regularly wears any watch now.

As some have said, a solution looking for a problem.

Apple will sell a lot initially I'm sure, esp in the USA, I think that's a given.
Long term we shall see, but probably stay a niche market.

Myself, irrespective of brand. I'd like to see one that meant you did not have to carry a phone.
It could be used for short phone calls and short messages all by itself.

I'm already loving my G Watch R, so I'm sure there are going to be several uses for the Apple Watch that people can't think of yet. For me, I have the weather radar as my default watch face, and have ambient display on 24/7 with the battery easily lasting all day. Just a quick glance at my wrist tells me the time, current weather, forecast, and shows the radar. Very useful for me, since I am outdoors a lot so without having to pull out my phone and open an app I can see at a glance and within a second I can see if there is any precipitation around me, the temperature over the next 12 hours, etc.

I'm sure the Apple Watch will have similar features. Not to mention the ability to view texts, e-mails, etc. That way when your phone goes off, just a quick glance at your watch is all it takes to see if it was an important message about an event you're heading to or just a junk e-mail.
