I'll admit it. I have a bad case of MacBook envy, and I'm really not sure why. I bought my 15" 1.5GHz Powerbook G4 with 1.5GB RAM in July, 2005. It has done and continues to do for me everything I could want. Hasn't crashed once, no dead pix, never slows down, and hasn't had a single bug I can think of. Startup time is great, and apps always seem to open very quickly IMO. The keyboard is awesome, speaker quality very nice, battery life quite good, and form terrific.
Why do I want a MacBook so much??? Would I use the built-in iSight? Not really. Glossy screen a plus for me?? Nope - my wife's Dell 700 has one and I am sick of it. Do I need the speed? No. Everything I do, my PB handles as quickly as I want. The exception is perhaps Photoshop, which will be even slower on a MB. Do I just need the latest. No, those video Ipods don't appeal to me in the least - I prefer the form of my orginial 40GB Ipod Photo.
Still I want a MacBook. Black or white, doesn't matter. Anyway, I don't have the heart to sell my PB for cheap, so there's no MB in my future. I'm gonna save my $$ and buy a 23" iMac with Leopard. Okay, 20" will do if 23" iMacs aren't out by the time Leopard ships. Still I want a MacBook. Any other PB owners out there going through the same? Damn marketing .
