Any user who thinks Chrome is swell, smells like roses, and its (and by extension, Google's) dominance is a good thing should read up on the controversy surrounding Manifest v3.

Most lay users aren't going to understand, or care about the technical aspects, but the philosophical questions, and practical effects of its implementation will have an impact, whether they realize it or not.

Hope Chrome users enjoy the fox running the hen house.

Maybe it doesn’t work for every language.
Were you by any chance on an English language page like this one? It will be greyed out in that case.
If you go to a foreign language page then it should work- and almost instantly- for all the major languages.
Just tried it on Japanese Amazon to make sure and it worked.

I have few problems with Safari myself and I always find it hard to understand why people complain about it so much.
If I use google search engine and block google syndication then yes, safari is painfully slow but I'm convinced there's a time out on the page when you do that.
Otherwise, there are some pages from time to time that don't work on Safari and so I keep a copy of Firefox. (You can use Firefox Focus on the phone too as a privacy browser)
But why do people use Chrome?
Because it's the default installed browser for most people and they never see the need to look any further. Most people are using Android phones and in my opinion, if they were worried enough to change from Chrome they wouldn't have bought Android in the first place
And then when you get in the Google universe everything is co-ordinated. Gmail, Youtube and don't forget Google docs. The teachers use Google docs for homework and projects so the kids download Chrome because it's all a much smoother experience and they get them hooked early.

I used Safari 90%, and let 10% for Chrome only when it’s mandatory. I was in recruitment process few months ago, and one of the online test sessions require Chrome.
I used to use Brave, but I need 100% compatibility when I was asked to use Chrome.
I also tried Firefox but it’s slower than Safari.

I think you quoted the wrong person. It's always worked for me.

I understand if you are going between Windows, Android, Mac etc but I really don't see an actual point in Chrome otherwise. It's resource hungry and creepily tracks you. The irony of a lot of people in here talking crap about Safari is the fact that originally Chrome, Edge, etc was based on Webkit, and still shares a lot in common with the engine.

Someone earlier in the thread wondered why Apple doesn't make Safari for Windows, they did a few years back. I think they actually quit making it around 2013 if I remember. Apple really wasn't concentrating on it. They initially made Safari for Windows when they were trying to promote developing apps for the iPhone initially using Web 2.0 and AJAX, something they quickly abandoned.
