depending on features i could probably live with a $600 10 inch model. my main use would be to take it on trips when my son gets older for him to play with.
netbooks with a 10" screen cost $300. $500 tops if you get blu-ray on it
worst case i can buy a $400 laptop to watch DVD's on the road
600 hahaha. That thing is going to be like 800 $ book it.
Hey I see that you are in the Air Force? I just joined!!I'm going off to officer training school this September!
Congrads on joining the ranksOne thing to always remember that they will not tell you in officer training: Always always listen to your senior NCOs!! They know the system and how to get things done. Do that and you will be a successful officer and not one that your troops will want to frag!
Also, if the tablet runs iphone OS I think it will be so "computer-like" that Apple will be forced to open up the OS some. The smartphone industry is still new and largely untapped so it is still excusable for Apple to prevent other browser apps, but can you imagine if Apple prevented Firefox from being able to be downloaded on a Mac?!Or if Microsoft wouldn't allow Safari to run on Windows??
My point is that a tablet, no matter how it's marketed, will walk the line so closely with the netbook market that Apple will eventually be forced to loosen up.
The future is in open source...
I am not sure what you mean by the smart phone industry is new, new to Apple or new to the public?
I mean it's a new, exploding industry. As opposed to personal computers. Sure smartphones have been around for awhile, but until about 3 years ago they were obscure. Now that phones are starting to get fully featured OSes, the rules about what they can and can't do are only starting to be drawn. As opposed to PC's which have been in common households for 20 years.
