Why do people start threads justifying why they ARE buying an iPad. To quote you - Who Cares. Buy it. Don't buy it. Or are you suggesting that the threads started about why people are buying it are ok?

I didn't say that, no. But threads in the iPad forum that have to justify why they aren't buying an iPad seem somewhat more ridiculous. But I agree, most all of those threads are just a waste of words.

Why do people feel the need to justify themselves either way? Trying to convince anyone on these forums of either side is futile, and shown to cause unhealthy amounts of stress :p

blah blah blah.
I can never imagine holding up something so large to take a picture (rear cam) and front would shoot straight up your nose.
I really don't understand the lack of cam argument.

Your missing my point. Obviously the iPad is geared toward web content and social media. Video chatting is a big part of that culture across many different demographics. Think Chatroulette, Skype.

I'm not going to be taking pictures with it, it will be purely social. I also picked up my laptop one night to experiment how holding the iPad and video chatting would feel. I held my screen at the same angle I would hold an iPad and I looked fine.

The point that tells me to wait, is that the front facing camera was there right up until the end and very close to being demoed! All the software hooks were there in the SDK. I saw them myself. The buttons and the UI are all there. And tomorrow we'll find out if their will be a space where the camera should of been. That's what kills me. A feature that was almost there, but will most likely make it to the next version. And if it doesn't make it to the next version, I'll live with it.

It's purely an intellectual discussion. I'm not trying to convince anyone. I'm explaining my logic of the pros and cons of buying an expensive Apple product when "Job's Distortion Field" creates hype around an early product. The iPad has so much potential, and if history is any indicator it says to wait and see.

I'm sure you'll find something about version 2 to make you say you'll wait for version 3.

Gosh no. I will certainly buy it. I usually am an early adopter. I got the MacBook Pro CoreDuo and the original iPhone. I just want to maximize my utility of the iPad and while also making the right economic decision and using the previous modal of how the iPhone App Store developed.

But who knows, maybe I will cave and buy one this summer. But right now, my logic says wait and see for a few months at least. This is the same logic that dictated my iPhone purchase. And that decision saved me $200. :p

I think it's counterproductive and too frustrating to focus on what it does not have. Sure it'd be great if it had flash, multitasking, camera, etc. If (given the actual product) you have no use for it then it's a luxury, and vice versa. Personally, the biggest drawback for me is only 64GB so (ironically) I'm only getting the 16GB model. That is to say, I could agonize over all the things I won't be doing with it due to inadequate storage, but I won't. Instead, I'll just enjoy the things I actually will be doing with it.

I'd just get the 16gb and resell it in a year. So you'll lose some cash, but you'll have had the fun of using it for a year.

Ummm - you wil prolly lose most of your cash. Who buys a second hand appliance after a much better up date comes out.
