I am really enjoying the way Microsoft is integrating Windows Phone, Windows for PC, and XBOX Live.

While I enjoy my MacBook Pro a lot, my next phone will *most likely* be a Windows 7 Phone... I have a Samsung Galaxy S and the Android OS is just not dependable and the UI is terrible, and while I enjoy my dad's iPhone 3GS, I am liking the way Windows Phone is shaping up.

No. In fact, I was excited as ever and had a choice of an iPhone, first generation Windows Phone 7 phones, and an Android device and I chose the Android device because I thought it was the best for my uses.

I was completely wrong. I dislike it in many ways and for many reasons.

I think there are certainly positive things about it, but overall I dislike Android compared to the other phone OSes.

But yes, thinking about it now, I am starting to lose respect for Google as a company... besides their search engine and e-mail client, there is nothing they do that I want to use compared to their competitors.

All Google does is take ideas, chews them up, and spits them out for the budget market.

I have not heard anything about INNOVATIVE on a W7 phone. However, the thing I hear the most is how much the phone was or is not selling at all and no hype what so ever! AmIRight?

Why do people obsess about this? I don't want features I wont use "baked in" to the OS.

Third party applications can hook into Android OS just fine (last.fm live scrobbling your music as you play it + syncing play info to linked contacts, Twitter hooks into the gallery for easy sharing and contact syncing and the same applies with the Facebook app).

I don't use Facebook so there is no benefit to me of having it built in to the OS, on the flip side others may not use Twitter so why would they want that integrated with the OS?

The bigger benefit is that you are only an app update away from any new features/functionality that an app can provide but with firmware based integration, you'll have to wait for a Microsoft/OEM/Carrier update to add functionality.

Ever since Google moved things like the GMail, Maps & Music apps into Android Market they've been consistently updated and added new features without the need or wait for a firmware update.

I won't ever argue about the fluidity of WP7, in my experience it beats Android easily and also beats iOS. Microsoft have created one of the most optimised smartphone OS's I've ever used but saying that the Galaxy S II has given me my smoothest Android experience yet.

Windows Phone 7 is really maturing now. I'm hoping to see it on some great Nokia models next year so I can replace my iPhone. iOS is very lacking.

I've said this before, I'm not sold on the Metro UI. I will admit that MS took the best parts of android and iOS and melded together a great OS. In some respects it is the most integrated and powerful OS. Given that they did take elements of iOS and android I'd not say its the most innovative.

MS has done a fine job but I wonder if the metro UI is scaring people off? In a sense why hasn't the phone gained any traction yet. Is it the hardware, OS, lack of apps, or marketing.

Snap picture, tap picture, share via twitter/Google+/Facebook/Picasa/Flickr, all from the camera app. Is that too much for you to handle?

On my Omnia 7, if I wanted to share a picture to Flickr I had to do the following:
1. Take picture.
2. Go to Metro Homescreen.
3. Go to app list.
4. Start Samsung photo sharing app.
5. Tap on the Flickr option.
6. Select the picture I just took.
7. Upload picture.

On Android to do the same all I have to do is this:
1. Take picture.
2. Tap thumbnail on camera app.
3. Slect Share via flickr.

Can you explain how that equates to more clicks and what is "*cuckoo*" about the way Android works?

I also find it very funny you wan't me to "Stop projecting (my) desires onto the market" in a thread with this kind of content:

I actually went to the Microsoft Store to look at a Windows Phone, but never quite got that far
I walked in the store and one of their floor attendants asked if he could help
I said I wanted to see the Windows Phone
He asked what phone I had currently
I said I had an iPhone 4
He said, "I hate iPhones, all they do is get viruses"
I said, "huh??"
He said, "yeah, they get all of these viruses and never work"

I left without seeing the Windows Phone
Well, actually I told the person next to him that the Microsoft Store shouldn't hire idiots to sell their products
Then I left

The Windows Phone might be great, I have no idea
But I will stick with my iPhone

Using the Samsung Pictures app I had to. I'm not sure on the official Flickr app but it seems there are hurdles with that one judging by the comments.

A bit slow but definitely the best mobile experience of Flickr I've tried for now, especially to browse. I wish it was even more integrated with my WP7.

...or better still can’t this thing just be integrated into the WP7 pictures hub so that all photos are automatically uploaded to flickr in the background?

A coworker has a Windows phone, so I played with it a bit. I admit it was slick looking and fast, but I don't really care for that tile interface. It seems a bit Fisher-Price to me. It feels like a kiddie phone. I realize I'm in a small minority, but I like tinkering with my toys. I like rooting my Android phone, installing other ROMS, etc. This is one reason I don't have an iPhone. (Yes, I realize you can jailbreak, but Google doesn't get all ticked off when you do it).

I do think it's a very good OS, but I feel MS may have fallen into the same trap they did with the Zune. The Zune was actually pretty good, but they sat around so long that by the time they got to market, the iPod owned the market. Apple had a three year head start over Windows Phone 7. Then they went and saddled it with the Windows name, which insures that many people who hated Windows Mobile won't touch it. Is it an insurmountable lead? Maybe.

I think competition is a good thing, but the big question is how many platforms can the market support? Apple is, of course, a huge player, and Android has sheer numbers in its favor. I think there is room for a third player, but who that is remains to be seen. I suspect it will be Microsoft by default, as RIM is fading fast (though working for the government, it doesn't seem like it to me), and Nokia is dying. I wouldn't be surprised to see MS buy Nokia to go head-to-head with Google and Motorola.

In mango the pictures hub has an "Apps" pivot now where all photo apps integrate the way the music hub apps works. Also when you snap a pic, press the 3 dots then select "share" or "apps". The developers of these apps just need to add the hooks so their options show up.

Also photos you take auto upload to skydrive or facebook on windows phone.
