Using the Samsung Pictures app I had to. I'm not sure on the official Flickr app but it seems there are hurdles with that one judging by the comments.

The sharing functionality in WP7 is very limited as it is. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-au/howto/wp7/pictures/upload-pictures-to-the-web.aspx

In mango the pictures hub has an "Apps" pivot now where all photo apps integrate the way the music hub apps works. Also when you snap a pic, press the 3 dots then select "share" or "apps". The developers of these apps just need to add the hooks so their options show up.

Also photos you take auto upload to skydrive or facebook on windows phone.

That is great to know lazerfox and hopefully with the flood of Mango optimized Apps we'll start seeing developers taking advantage of it.

It just seems so counter intuitive to me to not be able to share to any service you use through a third party app from the gallery.

Things like Skydrive auto uploading are great (I use auto uploading to Picasso via the Google+ app). Auto uploading is one less reason to use a chord to access your PC and its good to see Apple and Google follow in Microsoft's steps in this area.

My only other big fear with firmware integrated services is when things go wrong/change with the service you're using. HTC got caught out with this on their HTC Peep (built in Twitter app) when Twitter changed their authorization type.
http://www.modaco.com/topic/317063-htc-peep-now-broken/

If your phone is no longer eligible for firmware updates and this happens, you're pretty much stuck. This hasn't happened for WP7 so far as it's only coming up to the second Gen of handsets and hopefully it never will.

So apparently no speech interface to Zune at all. Confirmed by looking at the official MSFT website for WP7. Only "Find", "Open", "Text" and "Call" verbs. Very disappointing!

I really hope Google and Android die off in both the phone and tablet sectors and it becomes just Microsoft and Apple head to head with Google in the background. I think that's how it's gonna be in 2-3 years... I think Microsoft is really gonna grow exponentially once Nokia gets here with some sick hardware.

MS seems to have become quite inept based on it's performance in the phone/tablet market. I wonder if they have the right stuff to move forward?

Windows Phone 7 is really maturing now. I'm hoping to see it on some great Nokia models next year so I can replace my iPhone. iOS is very lacking.

I disagree about the iPhone comparison, but you're spot on with Windows Phone. I love how they've made it and it would be great to see it get a foothold. I may eat my words in later years if it monopolizes the industry (which I hate coming from any company), but for now I love the way it's going.

:)

I'll agree it's a great OS, and after the Mango update, my battery life is even better. Honestly, the worst part of the whole experience is the lack of quality apps out for Mango, but I'll give developers more than a week before I get upset with them :p

I'm disappointed by the incompleteness of the speech interface, the fact that you can't close apps from the multi-tasking view.

You can close apps from multitasking but backing out of them with the back key. Microsoft's stance is that the multitasking view if for quick switching when you recieve a text and have to jump quickly back to where you were. You get 6 app cards and they're FIFO meaning the first card automatically "close" when you open a 7th card.

MSFT should hire this guy to put in full customization feature:

I don't want features I wont use "baked in" to the OS..

Then you don't use them :)

See, for example, I recently added my Facebook profile to one of my Windows Phones. I'd kept it seperate for about 9 months, and finally bit the bullet and linked the account to my phone.
At no point in the beginning before I linked the profile did I feel the phone was lacking, or that I was being forced to try Microsoft's "baked in" option. I could use the dedicated Facebook app at any moment.
The problem I had with NoDo was that everything was just "lumped" together. I couldn't seperate my Facebook contacts from my real-life friends in the People hub. Now I can in Mango with the option of "groups".

Anyway, I do feel a bit sorry for Microsoft. Not because of their "brand image". That's just stupid and appeals only to the lowest common denominator (of which there are many).
But mainly because WP7 needs you to personalise the phone so you can see just how good it is, and that is a system that doesn't cater for potential customers.
It doesn't make sense when you walk into a store and look at one on display.. it's completely different to iOS, and Android, and only comes into it's own once you load your own profile and data onto it, and personalise the start page/front menu.

I reckon MSFT should create store-front versions of WP7 that allows a curious customer to enter their information, play around, then factory reset once the customer walks away.
It's only when you play with one with your own info, that you GET Windows Phone.

----------

That looks pretty cool. I think just having the option to pick custom background/accent colours would be enough though.

I would love to customise each tile.

What makes you think they aren't doing that? Have you been to a MSFT store lately?

I really need to update my Focus to Mango.

And yes Windows Phone 7 is the best mobile OS in my opinion in terms of use, etc.; I'd switch if I didn't have a zillion apps on iOS.

I'm heart broken. Really.

I just don't like the big, blocky interface. I don't like the tiles. Other than that, I think it's a great OS.

:D Man, you are absolutely right. Tiles are incredibly ugly. But, for some people without esthetic feeling it is ok enough. I just don't understand, why KingCrimson is glorifying Windows here.

The word you're looking for is aesthetic, and those of us with aesthetic taste can appreciate a minimalist design. It's not as flashy as iOS, but it has beauty in it's simplicity and raw functional design. The interface is very consistent, and once you use it you find that it is very intuitive as well, through use of swiping and simple icons. The tiles fit perfectly with the Metro theme and double as a means of presenting notifications, again it is minimalist design for the sake of functionality.

You may not like it as much as iOS, but it sure as hell isn't ugly.

I've got a Samsung Focus and love the WP7. It is a clean and responsive OS. I moved to it from my 3G. I initially had issues with it but since Mango it has been great.

To each his own. Personally, I find iOS boring, simplistic (not in a good way), bland and ugly.
But other people love it.
And I love Metro & Tiles. And some people hate it.

c'est la vie

I get that people have their own opinion, but just because you don't like something doesn't make it ugly.

Actually, that's wrong.
If I don't like something and say it's ugly, then it's ugly. Because "ugly" is subjective, and based on the personal opinions of an individual. It's not a universal fact, but a personal opinion.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is a better way to describe it. What's beautiful/ugly to one person, may be different to another.

Sure, many millions of people think iOS is beautiful. Great. Me? I think it looks awful. And in my world view, it's ugly. But that's just my opinion.
