my MBP trackpad is the best interface I've ever used. I NEVER use my trackpad button either.

always 'tap' on the trackpad itself, or 'two finger tap' for right mouse button, two finger scroll, etc... it's the bomb!

wish I had a 'pad' that could do that with my work peecee... I'd ditch my MS wheel mouse

I had 3 mouse buttons on my Dell Precision M90 laptop :D

I don't have that anymore since it was a work computer and I changed jobs. :( Nice machine, but wasn't fun hauling back and forth every day. ;)

Anyway, from what I gather in this thread, the double touch 'right click' works in Windows when using parallels, is this correct? Does it work in boot camp? If it does, then there is no reason for a second (or third ;) ) mouse button. :apple:

Correct :)

two finger click is awesome.

I consider the single button as a "trademark"

i agree... i like having this huge button that i can hit anywhere, not having to focus my finger on a certain part of it... it also just looks pleasant...

i couldn't be happier with the apple trackpads... they have always been very nice.

not that it will make you feel better.... but yea, i like it.

The problem I have is that I usually use the touchpad with my right thumb, with the rest of the hand in a ready-to-type position (at least still resting on the keyboard). With the 2-finger-and-a-click right click, I have to move my hand down then back up, so it becomes not as convenient. Is there a way to fix this? (apart from changing my habits of using the touchpad?)

Same thing with two finger scroll.

Macs aren't the only computers where you can "tap" to click on the trackpad, btw... And on my PC, I can set it so tapping certain parts of the pad does certain functions.

Two-button mice work because you have two fingers hanging over the front of the thing.

Two-button trackpads only work if your hand has two thumbs.

The two-fingers-on-trackpad click is a much better solution. Seems like Apple is the only computer manufacturer with a brain.

As a PC user originaly, I think the two-fingers-on-trackpad click is lame and a waste of time. To say you need an extra thumb for the extra button is also lame. It just shows how traditional Mac users don't really think outside of the box as much as they'd like to think they do.

Because if they did, they wouldn't be horrified by a two-button mouse...

I don't think we're "horrified" by the use of a two-button mouse. Hell, I use a five-button scroll-wheel trackball with my "docked" laptop.

However, I have two PC laptops, and perhaps I'm just a ham-handed moron, but I constantly find myself hitting the right button on the PC trackpad when I wanted the left button simply because my hand was tracking toward the right of the pad. That's annoying.

I don't believe either is right or wrong, it's what you get used to. I can do both, but primarily use my Mac and so am quite comfortable with the two-button click, which I fail to see as a "waste of time" since I've already got my hand on the track-pad anyway.

Must confess I forget that my Macbook even has a mouse button. I just use the left and right finger taps.
