Okay so I've done all the searching I can do and nothing is working to get youtube to work. I restored my phone and had iTunes activate it. I've installed the patch that specifically says it fixes the "cannot connect to youtube" problem. And I still get that problem. I'm on a 8gb 1.1.4 iPhone jailbroken with ziphone 2.5. Jailbreak only not activated by ziphone. Help me please!

2 weeks ago, I updated from 1.1.1 to 1.1.4, as soon as I did that I immediately noticed my Gmail was working but not Yahoo... and when I played around I also noticed youTube did not work too. After hours of investigation, same as you installed that app for youTube but still not working  Anyway, went to local Apple Store and they told me to restore. As soon as I restored in iTunes, jailbreak then all email clients and youTube work right away in 1.1.4 and no need to install that app. But since you already installed and still not work, all I can think of is keep restore and hope it will work one time.

if I restore my phone, and then I sync it back up, I m gogin to lose all the notes, calendars and alarms i have right? hmmm i dont know if thats worth doing just for youtube......

I had this YouTube problem as well. I emailed arix at iJailbreak.com and he told me the latest version of iJailbreak fixes this problem.
Did a restore to 1.1.4, downloaded the new software from iJailbreak.com and YouTube works perfectly!
Thanks arix!
:)

yes notes and alarms but calendars and contacts will depending in you. If you add something after the last sync from Outlook and Calendar then yes. If no changed from last time then no.

I had this problem, i uninstalled the 'tweak' and rebooted my iphone, it worked!

So ironically, the twesk was the thing messing youtube up!!!

i just restored my phone, it asked me tif i wante da backup (amazing) so I clicked yes, after it reestored i downloaded ijailbreak the latest version 6.0 i think.. and re-ijailbreak-ed it and now my youtube works and itunes put everything back up on my phone so it looks and i have exactly the same things as before...:D

Jeez, look under installer / Tweaks

yeah the "YouTube activator" doesnt work, for me at least. I had to restore my phone, jailbreak, restore, and jailbreak again before my youtube worked, but i did get it to work.

This is going to sound really stupid, but what do you do to "reboot"? Is that restoring, restarting, turning the phone off then on, or something else???

Hold down the home button and sleep button until the apple logo appears and then release the buttons .. voilà, iPhone rebooted.

This problem on OFFICIAL IPHONE CONTRACTS is caused by the REAL activation and hacked activation conflicting.

The trick here is to NOT activate in iTunes when you restore it but as you all know iTunes AUTOMATICALLY activates the phone when it detects it.

How do stop that? disconnect your PC from the internet so that iTunes cannot check if the phone is officially activated - possibly removing the SIM card before restoring will work as well.

If you then use iPlus/iLiberty it will "hack"activate the phone and youtube will be fine.

NOTE: If your using your iPhone for the first time - sign up and activate officially through iTunes and THEN restore and disconnect it from the internet.

I still can't get it to work! Is there some kind of order of things to do to get it to work just right, without having to restore or re-jailbreak?

Hey!!!

Will someone please help me!?! Come on!!! I need someone to post a reply. It's been days now. Please help...:(

@Justinthesaint: All the answers are already in the thread - you just have to read it!

Reboot is turning the phone off and on - thats all.

Restore is using iTunes to put the phone back to factory settings.

Was your phone unlocked? which method did you use? are you on an official iPhone contract?

If your unlocked and on an official contract do what I said in my post above.

If your on a non-official contract or not unlocked just restore and jailbreak ONLY again using iLiberty+.

Err .. you are not trying YouTube through EDGE are you? What carrier are you with? What plans are you on for data?

If it doesn't work via Wifi, then ignore my questions above.

Look, I just want to fix this youtube/yahoo mail problem without restoring my phone, so that i can keep all of my applications and data without having to download them all over again. When I jailbroke, I pressed the "Jailbreak and Activate" button (because it was under the category for iPhone and iPod Touch) using ZiPhone. I have tried almost every combination I can think of for installing and uninstalling the "YouTube Fix" in installer, but I still can't get it to work. I have tried downloading then restarting then uninstalling then restarting, I have tried downloading then turning off then turning on then uninstalling then turning off then turning on. I have tried many others, but those were two examples. The point is NOTHING is working. Is there an order of installing and uninstalling and restarting or turning off then on that worked for someone??? PLEASE tell me something. I don't want to have to restore and re-jailbreak for the 3rd time!!!:(

Thats the problem your using Ziphone 2.5 get 3.0. I had the same problem then I restored the phone thru itunes, downloaded Ziphone 3.0 and just jailbreak the phone don't unlock it and your youtube, googlemaps, and everything else will work.

If "official contract" means that I'm still using AT&T, then yes. So, is there any quick fix for my phone without restoring?
