Could you possibly post that wallpaper for us?

Edit: Nvm. lol. Just found out it was an iOS default wallpaper

To advise that a software update is available.

Odd, I updated yesterday and never got a badge notification. "Settings" isn't even listed under Notifications - at least not on my phone. Where's the option to turn badges on for the Settings icon?

I've never seen a badge notification on the Settings icon. When and why would these come up to begin with?

I was wondering the same thing. I haven't updated to 5.0.1 and yet my Settings icon doesn't have a "1" badge on it. I did check if there was an update and it says there is.

Yeah, I never got the badge on mine. I can't find an option for it anywhere in Settings or Notifications which leads me to believe it's automatic. But, alas, it never showed up on mine.

I kinda figured it out. It seems that the notification badge only appears if the update has been downloaded on your iphone but not installed yet. So that means that the device can download the update automatically. However, my iPhone hasn't downloaded it (yet?). Is there a way to turn this automatic update download on or off?

are you able to go into the settings app and see what is causing the badge? There has to be some kind of indicator as to what is alerting your attention.

Nothing shows up in Settings to indicate anything is waiting.

It's annoying.

Erased everything and restored the last iCloud backup and it's still there. The backup was from before the upgrade, so I really don't understand.

Yeah, that's frustrating. I think I'd be taking it to the Apple store and have them look at it (if you haven't already).

It checks for updates automatically? I haven't received a notification like this on my 4S for 5.01. I haven't manually checked for an update either. I dont want to update until the next update.

I got rid of the "1" by wiping the iPhone, and setting it up as a new iPhone.

Then I had to wipe it again and restore it to an old backup in order to get everything back.

Nobody knows how it happened, but I seem to have downloaded the 5.0.1 twice, and the one that did not install remained in storage and kept triggering the Settings App to show the "1" as an update waiting.

Apple do not understand how I got the update twice.

The only thing really unusual about my iPhone is that I use a locked SIM. Don't know what that would have to do with it.
