Very honestly, but Samsung and LG are just money hungry companies without caring what they offer to customers, all they care is just how to have big marketing to have a phone "look like cool" and "look like having cool tech stuff" to sell as many as possible, here are some examples:

Samsung face unlock can be fooled with a photo, and this happened in the last generation of phone, and they don't care and put the exact same stuff in the current phone. They don't care the security part at all because that may not helps them to sell more phones!

LG G6, V30 camera sensor is worse than many years ago G4. The sensor size is so small that a lot of phone front camera is even bigger sensor than G6/V30. The wide angel sensor of V30 is so small that there is no way to take a reasonable photo in not enough light situation, even the cheapest phone nowadays would not use that crazy small sensor.

Lol. They said it was a 1 in a million chance it could be fooled. World population is 7.5 billion, so you still have a chance of 7,500 that someone could still unlock it. Lol.

Whether most people on here prefer iPhones (as I do) to Samsung phones, there's no denying Samsung make really good phones. Your post just comes across as being a one sided fanboy.

I can't wait to get my hands on an iPhone X and have no doubt it'll be the best smartphone out there in my eyes. But I also received a Note 8 yesterday and it's a top quality device. I just prefer iOS, which is why I won't keep it.

So, do you hang around the entire world population a lot? :D

Seriously I cannot accept buying a phone with that much money then someone can just copy a photo of mine from Facebook then unlock my phone.

By the way basically any android phone doesn't get real update after around a year, for this part Apple is a big win, apple iphone/ipad or whatever gets like 4 years+ update.

so you would buy an iphone x that can be thwarted by a sweaty face? In the keynote facial recognition didn't work the first time because the guys face was sweaty. It only worked after he wiped his face off....

Did you see the second video?

There’s tons of evidence the Samsung ones can be fooled by a photo. Tech guys did it in the damn demo area after the Samsung keynote. They didn’t make it to be as secure as Apple did, it’s fine, but it’s still true...

Uh...no...?

That’s what you think happened? After all that has come out about that incident, that’s what you come in here with?

That’s not what happened.

Well, they stated in the Keynote that it is 1:50.000 with TouchID, so that's 150.000 chances that someone with the same finger opens your phone. Now, if you still think that is a problem, then you have some serious issues.

Because there are numerous things that it gives people that are well worth the money? I use passcode authentication on my Note 8. The last thing I'm thinking about is "Gee whiz you guys! I can't believe that this one feature that I was about to pay $930 for could possibly not be as secure as I thought! Well I'm just going to buy another phone that doesn't have the feature at all or an iPhone X that is just as bad at it! ". Just buy your iPhone already and stop with the inane comments. You had your mind made up already and now you're looking for anything to make you feel like you're not a fanboy. It's not working.

Nice going. You easily believed s8 can be fooled by watching YouTube/hearsay. But you can't believe faceID failed when it was shown live for all to see.

Are you talking about iphone 8+? This phone is heavier than the Note 8 with its teeny-weeny screen (relative to note 8). It is about e same size as note8 - a bit shorter and wider.

The ipx is about the same physical and screen size as s8 but much heavier.

No, where would i hold a iP8 now? Why are you bringing up iPhone? I don't care about plus iPhones wouldn't buy one either.

If your tolerance is a small phone then note 8 is brick. For someone who is ok with a mi max 6.4in then the note 8 is petite. It is a matter of perspective.

More of a matter of choice and knowing what you like personally, not just following everything one brand puts out and bagging others.

Samsung stated from the start that the face recognition was more a convenience than security protection. Which why it's ONLY USE is for unlocking the phone. IMO, it's the biometric version of pattern unlock. Now the Finger sensor and Iris scanner are used for secure purposes.

Now answer this question ...... How can people be okay with Apple taking away Touch ID for aesthetic reasons, but still have to deal with that huge black notch on the display, which actually cut off parts of content?

The way you said it can be construed as something other than your personal choice. You are asking why people like a "brick" like the Note 8. When you said it is brick what are basing it on? People look at screen body ratio or screen area to weight for defining the whether it is a brick. If you look at these metrics, Note 8 is not a brick at all.
