The way you said it can be construed as something other than your personal choice. You are asking why people like a "brick" like the Note 8. When you said it is brick what are basing it on? People look at screen body ratio or screen area to weight for defining the whether it is a brick. If you look at these metrics, Note 8 is not a brick at all.

Basing it on how it felt in my hand, top heavy too.

Nice going. You easily believed s8 can be fooled by watching YouTube/hearsay. But you can't believe faceID failed when it was shown live for all to see.

well it is different kind of fail
iphone x fail, you still cannot open it, it is safe
note 8 anyone has a photo of you can open it, it is nothing close to safe

Because there are numerous things that it gives people that are well worth the money? I use passcode authentication on my Note 8. The last thing I'm thinking about is "Gee whiz you guys! I can't believe that this one feature that I was about to pay $930 for could possibly not be as secure as I thought! Well I'm just going to buy another phone that doesn't have the feature at all or an iPhone X that is just as bad at it! ". Just buy your iPhone already and stop with the inane comments. You had your mind made up already and now you're looking for anything to make you feel like you're not a fanboy. It's not working.

but I don't use iphone and not plan to buy one, I just share my comment.
I am planning to buy an official U Ultra with official warranty by the end of the year, the local price would drop to around 1/4 of iphone x 256gb price.

Samsung stated from the start that the face recognition was more a convenience than security protection. Which why it's ONLY USE is for unlocking the phone. IMO, it's the biometric version of pattern unlock. Now the Finger sensor and Iris scanner are used for secure purposes.

Now answer this question ...... How can people be okay with Apple taking away Touch ID for aesthetic reasons, but still have to deal with that huge black notch on the display, which actually cut off parts of content?

The Iris scanner looks very secured:

Really??? Unless I'm some secret agent man or high ranked official, nobody is going to go through all that trouble nor have the expertise to pull that off.

Just like the Face Recognition was supposedly so easy to fool from several videos, until everyone tries the same thing and realizes it's far from easy to fool it.

Almost all biometrics can be fooled given a person's expertise, determination, and great access to your attributes.

For the regular everyday individual, they have nothing to worry about.

Op is coming off as a fan boy here. Why spend loads on a Samsung? Due to what it can do. It's stunning device with amazing features that's why.

Facial recognition can't be fooled by a photo in every video I've seen and even if it can..why does it matter? Who that wants to steal your phone will even know you?

And besides there's FP and iris scanning..not like facial recognition is the only form of security

The video you shown just talk about possibilities some unknown person said can be done. But there is no mention of actual documented cases of bypass. You are just spreading FUD.

So can Touch ID on the iPhone 8 and previous models. And once the iPhone X is release, you'll be sure to find someone that actually fools Face ID regardless of how difficult it might be. Truth is, accounts have been compromised before biometrics on mobile devices as well. So you are either extremely paranoid, or trying your hardest to convince us that Samsung is inferior.

Even if it were true that it can be fooled by a photo there are other methods of unlocking it. If you have the iris scanner or fingerprint scanner enabled no-one can get into your phone. At least there are other methods of security if you are not satisfied with facial recognition.

Nobody knows if it can or can't because nobody has access to an iphone X to try. Anyhow I hope you are feeling safe with your iphone 8S with it's hackable touch ID.

What kind of company are you hanging around that someone is going to steal your phone? I know it happens but my phone is in my hand or in my pocket.

So that means the iPhone 8 and 8S is completely unsecure, according your own logic.

It also means the iPhone X Face ID will NEVER be compromised, even though barely anyone has access to the iPhone X yet, cause Apple said so, according to your own logic.

so far the most secure phone is phone x, that is the conclusion. I don't own iphone anyway.

Secure by who's word, Apple's? Cause it's not even released yet for for multiple people to put it to the test.

Also, Apple themselves stated an identical twin could fool Face ID. Don't just take Apple's word that it can't be fooled by physical face model duplication methods.

That's not an issue with a finger sensor or Iris scanner.

How can you say it's the most secure when it's never been tested before? That doesn't make any sense. Also there are other phones out there which are not Samsung phones. how do you know the iphone X is more secure than those phones?
