Apparently this isn’t as big of a deal as some made it out to be.

it’s annoying yes. I hope it gets fixed soon. The last time I had this problem was on a iPhone 8 and resetting network settings fixed nothing. I had to wait for the sprint fix.

My WIFI Calling works 50% of the time and I think its a IOS bug. After the 14.1 update I thought the problem would be resolved but I guess not. Sprint/T-Mobile is my carrier. Is anyone else experiencing issues with this?

Yep, I'm still having the same problem. With Telstra (Australia). Under iOS14 and 14.1

WiFi calling says it's active and working, but it fails most of the time for incoming and outgoing calls.

I'm having the same problem. Have reset network settings, and that didn't help. Restarted phone and router. Turned WiFi calling off and on, along with cellular data.

No luck. My provider is Telstra, phone is an 11 pro. iOS 14.1

Mine works sometimes. But it all started not working with the iOS 14 update.

Did it all start when you upgraded to iOS 14?

I'm not sure if this has been said before, but: the iPhone only enables Wifi calling if the cell signal drops below a certain threshold.

To make sure Wifi calling as such works, put the iPhone to airplane mode, and then enable Wifi only. It should enable Wifi calling.

For me it has worked throughout all iOS 14.x versions so far. My carrier is Swisscom.

Your test worked. Strange in previous IOSes it would enable WIFI calling even if my cell signal was great. Apple must have changed something.

Odd, it has pretty much worked in just poor signal situations. Unless perhaps it's something that carriers can adjust via carrier settings and some might be changing sometimes for some reason.

This exactly how my iPhone X has always behaved, both in iOS 14 and all previous iOS versions.
Inside my house there is a particularly poor signal so I have always relied on wifi calling. Outside the house, but still in range of my wifi it uses the cellular network as normal.

Yep, all started with iOS14. But my wife's (iPhone 8) still has perfect WiFi calling under iOS14. But she is with a different provider. I'm thinking iOS14 has broken the carrier settings for some providers, as it seems fine for some but not others.

I'm glad it did! Either Apple changed something, or it's in your carrier bundle specific to your mobile operator. Maybe every carrier can define from what signal threshold Wifi Calling gets enabled. Some may put more priority on it, some less.

At the end it's about the experience: if your cell signal is great, it's better to use if, because if your wifi is wonky for any reason, you will complain to your operator because of bad call quality. They don't want that.

Other operators may always want you to use Wifi calling to reduce load on their cell towers. So I guess it's about what they prioritize.
