As with Joe, I do not lose a signal with any other wireless device in my home including my gaming consoles.I have exchanged three Ipads as well but everyone has this connection issue upon waking. When I turn on the ipad it connects perfectly but when waking I have to click on my wireless ID to connect.

No issues here at all.

Home routers: WRT400N and WRT54GL (setup with WDS using DD-WRT)

Also connected to my brother's router (wrt54g), work, used wifi tethering on my N1, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble and Burger King's wifi......no issues at all.

16gb wifi model here.

I have FIOS and once I changed to WPA2 on April 27th I have had no issues whats so ever...So who the heck knows!

Same thing here. Wifi worked fine for the first couple weeks, now everytime my iPad sleeps it loses the network connection and I have to reconnect manually when I turn the screen back on.

Those saying it's a router issue are hilarious. If it's a router issue, why do my laptop, desktop, and phone manage to stay connected? Clearly a flaw on Apple's part. Hoping an update will fix this because it's super annoying.

Well said.

Same here even though my network is open. Have this issue from day 2 and still.. Probably from day 1 but can't really say because I didn't put it on sleep..if you know what I mean

Waiting for a quick fix from Apple and an 'answer' from dev team.

Joe, I experience the same issue as you have. When waking from sleep I have to manually click on settings wifi and click my router to gain connectivity but I don't have to enter my wpa2 key.Slightly annoying but hopefully there will be a fix soon.I have a D-link dir-655 router(supplied info for any other members with the same router)

Hi,

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I had this issue until I read about the workaround. If you have your iPad on minimum brightness, adjusting the brightness to just above minimum will make it reconnect to Wi-Fi coming out of sleep.

It's reproducible and it works. I just wish Apple would acknowledge it. I'm on the new gen. Airport Extreme, so I don't want to hear them blaming third party routers.

Give the brightness a go and see if that helps with the reconnection after sleep.

I've heard this mentioned as a solution a couple of times, but how does one go about doing this?

In your browser, go to: 192.168.1.1

User name: Admin
Password: Password or Password1 [unless you've already changed it]

Then you can change your wireless settings from there.

Wow, that actually WORKS! LOL. Thanks for the work around. This is also explains why it's been happening the last couple of weeks for me. My wife started complaining about the brightness hurting her eyes so she keeps it down whenever she uses it.

Thanks man

Well Sir,you are now an Apple genious! You're suggestion of adjusting the brightness works.I can attest this certainly works.(no sarcasm intended with the first sentence)Btw thank you.

At college I use a Netgear router and have had zero problems with wifi connectivity. Since coming home, where we have a Belkin router, I've had a terrible time getting a stable connection. The iPad is either "Unable to Join" the network or unable to connect to the internet after connecting. It seems to me it has a lot to do with the router and router settings, but the fact is we shouldn't have to deal with this.

I use a 2wire dsl wireless router and modem. It is a g network connection and have not had any issues. I was at kaiser the other day and was able to keep a connection there as well.

I had this problem the entire time. I bought another router until I realized I couldn't fully replace my Fios router. So I returned that...

I ended up just making my password easier to type.

It sucks

Sure you can. I have fios and my ONT is hooked straight into my airport extreme. My verizon router sits behind my airport only because I have a tv package as well, if i didn't have tv service, I wouldn't even need their crappy router.

I reported my frustration with wifi troubles not long ago. Someone suggested that these problems had to do with the auto brightness setting. This did not make sense to me. But it was easy to try.
When I turned off auto brightness, my wifi problem (for 5 weeks) totally went away. I still don't understand the connection, but it works.

Turn Auto Brightness backj on and let us know if the issue returns.

Length of WPA key

I've seen similar issues with my wireless which I believe were associated to the length of the WPA-PSK key. Try a WPA key of 8 digits long and only lower case. I've had great success with this.

I have a set up that can test this problem pretty well. I have an iPad32 GB 3G and an iPad 32 GB wifi for my wife. Downstairs I have a FiOS wireless router and upstairs I have an Airport Extreme. The 3G has no connection problems but the WiFi iPad disconnects from either router upon waking. Both routers are running WPA security. Something is bad with the iPad Wifi system.
