That's a really weak argument. A lot of technology we consider important now may well be obsolete in ten years. That doesn't mean we don't need it now.

Well, maybe not by Apple, but third party software plays windows media.

Most websites that stream audio (e.g., internet radio) or video (e.g., internet television) use flash players.

I use Pandora and Slacker Radio for the Internet radio. I go to nbc.com to watch TV on my iPhone. :D
 
I'm really interested in what useful flash-only sites people are dying to use. I'm not trying to start a fight, I just personally never miss it and I'm curious about what other people do that requires it.
The most common one for me is my local news site's traffic page. Alternatively, I suffer through with the Maps app. Unfortunately, Google's lag time on traffic updates means most times the traffic I experience has no relationship to what Maps is displaying.

About once a week or so I run across a web site I want to view that won't load on the iPhone because it's Flash based. None of it is pr0n, either :).
