I've been hoping since they first released iOS that they would offer a dark version of the UI. I use my iPhone and iPad a lot at night, and all the white and light blue UI elements are hard on the eyes.

I don't have the patience to deal with jailbreaking and applying themes (and when I have tried, they're always buggy as hell), and I think it would be pretty easy for Apple to just supply two version of the UI...

Just a hint:

Mac OS X 10.0, first OS X ever:

Last Mac OS X up to date, OS 10.8:

As you can see, Apple doesn't change things just for the sake of changing, the Mac OS it's been the same since the beginning, just refined through time, expect the same for iOS

It's not like changing the UI but you can use the accessibility option in iOS :

I have it set to 3 home button clicks. If you have a Mac, you can do the very same thing by hitting CMD + ALT + CTRL + 8.

likely, but nobody really knows :D

I think you're right. Nobody really knows. I find each time Apple comes out with something IOS related, it's nothing splashing. It's as though they're just playing catch-up on bugs and customer requests. I barely saw a difference between IOS 5.0.1 and 5.1.

Apple is (sadly) currently busy to make OSX look like iOS. In other words, the answer to your question is currently no.

For the iPad I'd like to Apple copy the method of multitasking that was on webOS. It seems far superior to the iOS method.

or they could make changing apps look like the fast user change in mac os.

If Apple refreshed the look of iOS now, millions of people would suddenly not know how to use their iPads. :)

I think giving people a choice between a "classic view" and some type of enhanced version might work out. Same underlying OS, just a UI refresh of some kind.

Yeah, it'd be harder than an experienced Word 95 user learning to use Word 2011.

Uniformity is good. Why make the user have to learn how to do something he'd know how to do on a previous version when you can retain the same UI and offer another to let people feel like they've actually upgraded/

> Multitasking -> Expose = Multiflow
> Refresh a few of the icons
> Add weather to the lock screen
> Notification icon to the status bar
> SBSettings with the toggles for 3G/4G, WiFi etc...
> Add Facebook to the standard menu like they did with Twitter. (Facebook
wants to fight Google+ so they will want this.)
> Add the ability to post to Twitter and Facebook at the same time. Select multiple items from the list and then click a red "done" or "upload" button.
> Allow this functionality from the lock screen take a pic thingy.
> Improve the ability to ATTACH a document/picture to your damn email!!!!!!!
> Answer a text without leaving the lock screen or an app.
> Update the way the settings and contacts look.

It could be a gradual change so people can adjust.

We all know the iPhone's iOS looks the same since the first iPhone came out... a few tweaks here and there but no big change in how it looks. Do you think Apple will ever change the look?.. How would you like it to be?

I could care less about what Apple has in mind for the iOS interface. Right now it's using a very dated interface with not much in terms of innovation in iOS development considering they hold their heads up being late in the game to finally offer a ghetto version of multitasking (which really isn't true multitasking, rather more like pause current process and work on another process).

What I do care about is keeping the jailbreak team devs around and assisting them with what they need to continue their work since their goals and visions appear to be better inline with mine. Thanks to Cydia, BigBoss and others, there's always something out there to where I can tailor my iOS experience better than the "1 button mouse experience" Apple is insisting.

The change will be evolutionary rather than revolutionary. If you compare iOS 5 to the iOS 1, even visually there's a massive change. It'll continue to evolve, but I don't think you'll see a massive redesign that some are hoping for.
