Lol.... The $589 2.3 model was up for about 20 minutes then sold out. Still have the 2.3 server but that's not as good a deal.

Wow...this thing went OUT OF STOCK like it's free.. Come'on guys, leave some for the people who really need a replacement desktop. :apple:

I almost pulled the trigger on one.... But I keep thinking that my 2011 is just fine and maybe I'll take my chances on what will happen with Broadwell.

Broadwell will be a lateral move. Maybe a little less power consumption etc but nothing significant for a desktop computer. Intel's 14 nm roadmap is so far behind you might as well wait for Skylake which may release concurrently with or not too long after Broadwell.

Good point.... I just realized that Skylake will be out in 8-10 months. Apparently they will have 4 cores at a minimum too. Definitely worth waiting for, but if that means a quad core 13" rMBP I may be trading that one up instead.

Possibly for the week. Just got to check often. I've seen refurbs (not necessarily Minis) released in the morning, afternoon and evening. No real set time.

Yeah, I think that's probably it for the week. Unbelievable how fast these go. It's almost a poll or indicator showing dissatisfaction of the new models.

I saw the Refurb.me notification, went to Apple Store to verify that it's real, logged into ShopDiscover, went back to Apple Store, and they are gone!

2.5 i5's in the UK refurb store right now. Just snagged one for my boyfriend, but I think I might return it if the £470 i7 comes back on.

The server would be convenient if one is going to add an SSD for the boot drive and use the OEM HDD for data storage.

In that case the the server already has the wiring harness for both bays and of course has a HDD mounted in the upper bay. The HDD in the lower bay can be removed by just barely sliding the whole tray out, just a couple of mm.

That beats having order an OWC Data Double and then having to pull everything out and mount the HDD in the upper bay. I went though that torture when I bought a mini earlier this year. Today I installed an SSD in a new mini that I received today. It took about twenty minutes.

Server quad is still sitting there. I'd think it would be gone by now. Regardless I don't think I've ever seen such a mad dash on a two year old machine but I get it. Holding out to see what else is available. The server model is a bit much for me.

Actually the Mini's always sell out this fast. Rarely (other than maybe the base 2.5ghz i5) last more than a half hour in the Apple store. Trust me, I've been following waiting for the 2.6ghz quad cores for some time. Finally settled on just getting a second 2.3 quad when Apple released the new Mini's.

Also do not forget that Apple drops the price considerably after the new models come out. Previously the 2.3ghz quad core was still almost $700. Now they are under $600. That makes them dirt cheap.

Yes, that sounds right. I actually think the I5 has more cost effective value for the typical user, especially as time disminishes the difference. So it surprises me that everyone's gone gaga over the I7. But I saw the I5 sold out pretty fast too this time.

Does the Server essentially have the OWC Data Double Kit built in to it? Or does it have like a special harness that provides for a clean set up?
