Wow...this thing went OUT OF STOCK like it's free.. Come'on guys, leave some for the people who really need a replacement desktop.![]()
Broadwell will be a lateral move. Maybe a little less power consumption etc but nothing significant for a desktop computer. Intel's 14 nm roadmap is so far behind you might as well wait for Skylake which may release concurrently with or not too long after Broadwell.I almost pulled the trigger on one.... But I keep thinking that my 2011 is just fine and maybe I'll take my chances on what will happen with Broadwell.

Lol.... The $589 2.3 model was up for about 20 minutes then sold out. Still have the 2.3 server but that's not as good a deal.
Possibly for the week. Just got to check often. I've seen refurbs (not necessarily Minis) released in the morning, afternoon and evening. No real set time.Is that it for the day?

Yeah, I think that's probably it for the week. Unbelievable how fast these go. It's almost a poll or indicator showing dissatisfaction of the new models.
Actually the Mini's always sell out this fast. Rarely (other than maybe the base 2.5ghz i5) last more than a half hour in the Apple store. Trust me, I've been following waiting for the 2.6ghz quad cores for some time. Finally settled on just getting a second 2.3 quad when Apple released the new Mini's.
Also do not forget that Apple drops the price considerably after the new models come out. Previously the 2.3ghz quad core was still almost $700. Now they are under $600. That makes them dirt cheap.
The server would be convenient if one is going to add an SSD for the boot drive and use the OEM HDD for data storage.
In that case the the server already has the wiring harness for both bays and of course has a HDD mounted in the upper bay. The HDD in the lower bay can be removed by just barely sliding the whole tray out, just a couple of mm.
That beats having order an OWC Data Double and then having to pull everything out and mount the HDD in the upper bay. I went though that torture when I bought a mini earlier this year. Today I installed an SSD in a new mini that I received today. It took about twenty minutes.
Does the Server essentially have the OWC Data Double Kit built in to it? Or does it have like a special harness that provides for a clean set up?
