lol I actually find laptops to be obsolete.. bought a M3 Max 14” Pro, thought I would use it more then my M1 iPad Pro, er no, laptop is now delegated to being permanently closed on my desk plugged into my monitor, and I upgraded my iPad to an M4 as I was still using it soo much, so now I have a tablet with keyboard I can very easily detach and use free hand, or place on a stand, ergo my laptop will be sold this year and replaced with a Mac Studio, something that is more powerful and better cooled and can sit on my desk using less space.
Due to iPads being so light they make the most sense as portable devices, unless you need specific apps or more power. For other use cases they have a huge advantage in having "detachable" displays so that they become ultraportables. If Macbooks are laptops then iPads are handtops.

Currently I have an iphone 17 pro max and an ipad mini 6. I purchased that ipad mini on day one because I always love that product and I was expecting the form factor change for months/years since ipad mini 2 was released (first with retina display). Now my ipad mini 6 is struggling with ios 26 (really low performance) and 64gb is not usable anymore. I’m deleting apps almost every day to give it some oxygen.

As an oled lover, I have always thought about updating the ipad mini once apple introduces model with that screen technology. This year seems closer than ever with expected mini 8. However, that iphone fold with inner screen of about same aspect ratio than ipad mini could be really tempting to have only one device.

Regarding the cost, current mini 7 on sale starts at 549€. I expect with oled inclusion a price increase of 100€ at least, so minimum 649€. If you add 17 pro max price of 1469€, you have 2118€, which is really similar to iphone fold price expected…

With that scenario on late 2026 and asking to ipad mini lovers, what do you think would be your choice between iphone fold vs iphone pro/pro max plus ipad mini 8?

One of the reasons I like the iPad mini is the LCD screen (OLED PWM migraines/eye strain).

I’m actually considering nabbing a spare iPad mini 7 once Apple goes OLED on the mini.
