The rumor regarding the 14.1" iPad Pro states the entry configuration would have 16GB RAM & 512GB SSD; this would indicate there may be configurations with more than 16GB RAM...?

BTO options for RAM & SSD would be nice, but Apple might just offer set configurations:
  • 128GB/256GB SSD = 8GB RAM (11" & 12.9" models)
  • 512GB SSD = 16GB RAM (all models)
  • 1TB/2TB SSD = 24GB RAM (all models)
M2 SoC & 24GB RAM; seems a great set of system resources for something like Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, or Xcode on iPadOS...?!? ;^p
Don’t forget swap and that individual apps will be able to use up to 16gb of memory now wow, I think all the Apple pro app wishers are about to get their wish this fall with M2 Pro iPad refreshes.

I don't believe the 16GB RAM base model rumor, as that will push the price over $2000. I am more inclined to believe 8GB up to 512, 16GB for 1TB and maybe 24GB for 2TB (I can already see the comments for that $3000 maxed out iPad...)

I can see artist potentially use the 24 GB version, especially with any high resolution paintings. I know of a few that use MacBook Pro with 64 GB in order to hold their art pieces in memory though I imagine those are extreme cases.

I hope they do that because I was planning on getting the 512GB iPad; I'm certainly not stumping up to 1TB just to get the extra RAM.

My dampener on the rumour:

Seems overkill to have 11/12.9/14.1 versions.
Really, why add 1 inch for a new model....🤪

If this comes to fruition, I could see the 12.9 disappearing.
