Yes, Apple Music charges your iTunes account. You can definitely use iTunes gift cards. I've been buying them online at 20% off every time a deal pops up. I'm able to get a discount on every service I subscribe to.

Yes i can confirm i used UK iTunes gift card to subscribe to the Apple music and i don't have credit card linked to my account.

My question is even with a credit card associated with my account, I have $52 in iTunes gift cards still on my account. After the trial will AM use that credit before actually charging my credit card?

They do for iTunes Match subscriptions. I see no reason why it should be different for Music.

sure u can, I was able to upgrade my iCloud storage & subscribe to Music.

I never had any credit card on file.
