Funny. I genuinely find the opposite! I can't believe how I almost never find my web browsing affected by lack of flash!

Can I ask people who have experience with flash on android. . . . Do you get "pop up windows" when browsing on your phone? I mean like any equivalent to all those bloody advert windows that can pop up on my Mac.

Because I have enjoyed not seeing flashing adverts all over the bloody web since I began using my iPad to surf.

Bank of America uses flash for the site key so I can't access the main site on my iPad. The mobile app works but it would be nice to have all the features of the main site. Other than that I haven't missed flash.

Cheers

WRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I access BoA all the time on my iPad. Something is wrong with you or your iPad if you can't access the BoA site properly. See attached photo disproving your statement. Note the sitekey....

Or maybe it's Apple? They advertise iPads for their ultimate browsing experience without mentioning absence of Flash. Not everybody follows Steve Jobs gripes so when they buy a computer with web browser they just expect Internet to work it usually does.

Please name some other products that advertise stuff they don't do, unless required to do so by law. Also please point out a review of the iPad by any creditable source that doesn't mention it doesn't support Flash. No excuse for someone not doing their homework, such as reading a single review, on such a purchase.

Another winner in the: "Im too lazy to read, but I have time to bit*h about something that's my fault anyway" category.

The iPad is not a computer.

I can see their point however. If something is labelled as the 'ultimate browsing experience' it does give certain connotations as to what the browsing experience of the device should be like. As Flash is missing, that would affect what someone might reasonably expect an 'ultimate browsing experience' to be.

If you're favourite and most viewed sites are based on Flash, the iPad will most certainly not be the ultimate browsing experience; in fact, it'll be a very poor one.

Agreed, but Apple said no Flash for about 3 years now. They gave Adobe the chance to fix it but as you can guess Flash for mobiles as well as most computers still sucks. Have you seen the Flash on Android videos? Sorry but Apple is right in this regard.

Mine is tied to my cell and any time I use a device the bank hasn't seen before it sends me a text with a code to authorize access from that device. That function requires flash. Who knows why they programed it that way but when I try to use the iPad I cannot do so w/o disabling that security feature which I would prefer no to do. So I never get to the screen you are referencing on my iPad.

Flash should be an option I can enable only when I need it. Apple could have negotiated the ios version to install disabled and stop and ask if it encounters a website that needs it. Other than bofa I've not really missed flash.

Cheers

Mine is tied to my computer, iPad, and iPhone. I get a question asking if I want it to remember this device for later and I said yet. The fact that I can make it work on my iPad, and iPhone means that there is no Flash in the login screen to identify your site key. It could be that your operator or whatever is blocking some kind of traffic, but it sure ain't Flash.

As I mentioned before as well as others, Flash does not work. Period. It does not work on mobile devices. Apple challenged Adobe to present a working version of Flash for mobiles 3 years ago with the first iPhone and Flash still is not here. Flash on the Android is a terrible experience which might even be compounded further on an iPhone and Apple is protective of their image. Hell, Flash on Symbian is not much better than on Android. This could have all be fixed when Apple offered to fix and optimize Flash but Adobe said no. So I am happy that Apple took Flash off the table as it is pure crappola.

snip pointless rant

The security feature is call SafePass and is tied to SiteKey.

It requires JavaScript and Flash. See below.

In the future you should take care before stating as fact that which you do not know.

I choose to have added security and my iPad does not support it. It's not the end of the world. I usually have access to a desktop or laptop, however I should have a choice. More typical Apple dictating how we use our devices. I can live with it but the limitation exists.

Whether it's CPU, RAM, Jobs hates Abobe or whatever reason it does not work. Just like Blu-ray Jobs has spoken and that's it. I'm sure the bank will get to the point where they don't use flash but it's annoying for now.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Hold one. Gonna go check this out. I might owe you an apology. Be right back.

@panzer06,

Just checked it out. You're right. I was wrong. If you go without Safepass, you can use BoA on your iPad but you do not have that extra layer of security. 6 here, half dozen there, but I do see your point. My bad.

If you JB your iPad, you can use that one app that makes most if not all apps look normal when double sized.

Might check it out. I also put a trouble ticket in with BofA. We'll see.

Cheers,

Good luck with that trouble ticket. :)

Yeah, just got the std " your comments have been forwarded to upper management for review" response.

So in a couple years flash will no longer be necessary to use safe pass. :) That's how long it took them to officially support Safari when it first came out.

Cheers,

Well I have noticed you can't chat while on Facebook on an iPad.

True, but you can barely use FB chat on a regular computer. You'd think the biggest website on the planet could hire someone to make a chat function that isn't a steaming pile of ****.

Or what? Steve Jobs would be proven to be wrong and you care to much for him? Is there any other rational for you personally to not want Flash on iPad?

Or you be proven a serial complaining whiner that should have done your homework in the first place before buying the first place. Go to: www.buyersremorse_ishouldhavepaidmoreattention.com and post your threads over there.

Not everybody follows Apple news, but all news outlets covered the Adobe-Apple battle of 2010 extensively. FYI.

So you blame Apple because BofA won't implement Safe Pass without Flash like PayPal and other institutions have? I have a Security Key that works perfectly fine without Flash. I also use BofA ShopSafe and PayPal Secure Card; BofA made it with Flash and PayPal used web standards, so should Apple be blamed for that missing BofA feature on iOS devices too?

Not everybody follows Apple news, but all news outlets covered the Adobe-Apple battle of 2010 extensively. FYI.

1) People don't follow every topic on every news outlet.

2) Isn't the iPad supposed to be a computer for the non-techie?

My mother, who's 85 years old, went to my Flickr page on her iPad, figuring she'd click on the slideshow link there. She called me up, disappointed and confused, because nothing happened. Turns out it uses Flash.

It doesn't matter if I'm disappointed in websites that use Flash or with Apple. What does matter is that I now look forward to checking out Android tablets for her, because I don't want to waste my time explaining Apple's web politics. I want a device that "just works" for her. Right now. Not in five years.

Maybe someday in a galaxy far, far away...

Seriously after all the war between apple and adobe I don't think it will happen soon.

I love my ipad, but as a user I'd like to have the choice of consuming the battery of my device using flash if I wanted to (without using jailbreak).

Not that I miss flash that much (and I'm a flash designer/developer)... but sometimes it really annoys me. For example I can't rate a movie at rotten tomatoes or watch a facebook video. But I'd say it's less than 1% of my everyday browsing needs.

Frash <3

I use it on my mums iPad, it doesn't work very well yet but its better than nothing. I can play flash animation (ads, etc., lol) and even load some games, although often some don't load and even if they do I can't get it working because the input (touch) is wrong. Video playback doesn't work yet.
