With the upcoming recession due to the outbreak it would be foolish to raise the price because sales for smartphones will probably be not that good. I'd be even not surprised if Apple just delay their new phones.

They probably will go up but it’ll just mean less people will buy the latest models. The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 will be offered on better deals and Apple will absorb some of the loss that way.

I’m quite happy with the current price of the iPhone 11 and it’s price point has made it perhaps the most popular iPhone of the past 6 months, much like the XR before it. If the price goes up £100 to compensate for 5G on the iPhone 12, i’ll just get the 11. These phones change so little year on year that it’s no big deal buying older models these days.

I’d be surprised if Apple risked losing new sales, I must admit. I don’t think it makes much difference increasing the prices of the Pro models as these were already premium with consumers in that niche happy to pay more for the extra features anyway.

No, they do not. As a matter fact, their competitors have been producing ‘premium’ phones for years on Apple’s level in terms of hardware. What separates Apple from others, is there integration of iOS. That’s what makes Apple so lucrative with their iPhone sales, It has nothing to do with the premium, when all smart phones have generally become on that level that Apple had the upper hand them in the years past. Times have changed.

Oh i'm not saying other brands haven't been producing premium phones because they obviously have been. I mean more premium in terms of brand prestige. Apple doesn't necessarily need to do this with hardware, it can be done with marketing and even pricing.

Obviously Apple knows it needs to keep their prices somewhat down since many mid range phones keep getting better and more popular. Also i'm sure their goal is to get into markets like South/South East Asia in a big way.

I see their pro line up rising in price while they start to release more budget options at a more competitive price. Like a 4 or 5 phone yearly line up instead of 2 or 3.

This thread is mute anyway, Samsung prices drop 10, 20, 30% plus within months, iPhones don’t.

you can start burning yourself since there will be four new iphones coming by latter part of the year

yes because Samsung and so many other android manufacturers drops their prices lower than iPhones do, surprising, that is so fresh news.

Are you Nostradamus? proof?

This has been the ‘rumour’ for some time...

Let’s keep in mind Samsung price are fake
It’s the price for the first weeks but after it goes down dramatically

Are you Nostradamus? proof?

You ask for proof for something on a rumored website? If everybody asked for ‘proof’ the way you did In the context of someone making a prediction about an opinion on the future, what would be the point of having discussion about something in terms of future releases for Apple products? (Rhetorical) Think about that one for a minute, then you can get back to me.😁

I agree mostly but Apple also wants to be known as the most premium phone brand. Might be hard to do of your main competitors phones cost more.

Let’s also remember that Samsung were setting up their prices before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Apple can now wait and see how those Samsungs sell (or not) and set their prices a week before the new iPhones are announced. It will pretty much depend on how the world feels overall by the autumn.

With the steep price of the new Samsung S20 series do you think this will make Apple less hesitant to jack up their prices for new releases ? Maybe they feel it won't be such a shock if they did since hey Samsung did it first.

iphone 11 - $700
iphone 11 Pro - $1000
iphone 11 Pro Max - $1100

Samsung S20 - $1000
Samsung S20 + - $1200
Samsung S20 Ultra - $1400

What do you think ?

They will keep jacking up the prices. Why not? People go out and spend 1K + for a phone...Highly doubt they will stop, even if it’s at a $100-200;at a time. #Crazy #NotWorthIt

Most iPhone users don’t go out and spend £1k+ for a phone though, just a select part of the market that do. I think even Apple realise this otherwise they wouldn’t have released the XR and 11 these past two years. People don’t upgrade on average as often as they used to due to phones being capable for much longer and a shortage of unique features arriving each year. Rising costs have also contributed massively.

My guess (just a guess!) is that they would have raised prices but will keep them as-is due to the pandemic and global economic crisis, knowing that consumer willingness and ability to spend are down.

But didn't Apple settle their legal battle with Qualcom and paid them billions so they could use Qualcoms Snapdragon chips?

They did it to get the modem. The Snapdragon is also the CPU/GPU, and Apple has their own solution for that.

Apple’s prices have already went up(India only so far).

Due to taxes going up. I suspect that, unlike the US, India likes to hide the taxes in the advertised prices. Vs the US, where the advertised price isn't the price you pay.
