Not something I'd normally recommend, but since it's taken a lot longer than you were promised, you could always consider just cancelling your current order.

i probably would have if i could.

its a long story so ill tell it for those that can be bothered to read (i dont blame you if you cant)
i live in the UK and i was going to order a macbook with my art teacher through his brother in law who lives in the states. when the mbp was re-released in oct i thought i want that one cause i had been worrying about the video card for the reasons i would use my laptop. so my art teacher placed the order with his bro and i was very careful to point out that i wanted the glossy screen and it was an option that you had to change and to make sure that it had it. anyway a few days late he shows me the invoice.

i CANT beleive it he has ordered the wrong one, it was ok and he sent it back and got a new one coming out to him. he was coming over on dec 14th and this is when i was meant to get it, anyway the mbp glossy did not arrive in time for him to get it and now his friend or something is bringing it over on the 11th.

i wish i could cancel it, and to make matters worse just after i ordered it i received access to a special education store that gets even more off that i previously was able to get making the price very close to the US, certainly the difference was not worth the 3 month wait, but atleast i do get the good keyboard even if the power adaptors are wrong, i think the uk enter on the apple notebooks is stupid. told you it was a long story:p

ok I just need to point out two slightly irksome posts:

Are you kidding me? You are in a mac forum, not windows. I have my powerbook G4, which is an absolutely amazing machine from 2003/early 04. There is not a single obsolete aspect about it, hold for the fact that I cannot run a program like bootcamp, but when the time is right I will make my move, right now there is just very little I actually need windows for that isn't already compatible with my current powerbook. But seriously, don't post inane comments for the sake of riling someone up. don't mean to be harsh, just don't want to see our newer members turned off by the prospect of something that is not true at all.

My comments were mot insane...yes...it is old now.....usefull still but Obsolete...in the new techie way....every 6 month a comp.. is Obsolete...

i don't think it was sarcastic actually. If you look at any of her other posts they are all very similar to the one we are talking about. I'm usually pretty good on sarcastic, but maybe I dropped the ball on this one.

Yeah, you dropped the ball on that one...

No I didn't. The current crop of Apple computers will be useless within the next 4 weeks probably. I mean if I buy a Mac Pro today there's no chance I'll still be using it in February. That would just be foolish. I'll of course have to upgrade. I might be able to donate it to an under privilege school for a tax write off I suppose.

If you really feel the need to donate your "soon-to-be obselete" Mac Pro, please consider the Ben Holeton Foundation:) I really would love to replace my iBook:D

thats strange.. do you have a full pic of the keyboard?

no unfortunately i dont have a uk mac laptop to compare to, however this website was where i got the original picture from
http://www.thoughton.co.uk/digitallife/weblog/apple/index.php

this is the best full picture of the keyboard that i could get;
mbp_front_shot.jpg

there are only minor differences between uk and us keyboards but apple is the only manufacturer which has this strangely thin enter key, i beleive other manufacturers either have a thicker easier to hit key or a us style one

Is there any rationale provided for why the enter key is configured in such an odd way? I mean do you Brtis have particularly tiny paws or something;)

To cut a long story short I ordered a mbp in late november but due to a series of delays i did not get it on dec 15th when i was meant to and now have to wait untill jan 11th.

i am just worried that my new computer will be an old model before i even get it. i know that it will still be an amazing machine, however it would be crap if it was.

I know there have been few if any rumors of an upgrade to the line at MWSF i was just wondering if anybody knew anything or could put my mind to rest. Many thanks,
Hugo

Computers are kind of like cars in the sense that the minute you drive it off the lot it instantly loses value, however in the rapidly evolving computer world that really bottoms out to pretty much always being behind in something.

I bought my MBP about 6 weeks before they released them with C2D processors, that essentially means that my MBP was current for 6 weeks after purchase :D I am however very happy with my purchase, it allows me to have a portable Maya workstation, video, & still image editing all in a nice looking case :)

So long as the computer you bought works for you and does what you need it to thats all that should matter. With Apple there is always "Next Tuesday"
